Going to ot tied at 62 after we don't score in the final 3:43. Agee was on the bench for 2 minutes after the 4 minute timeout when he was eating up the boards.

Let's pull this out

Heading to 2OT. Blew a 5 point lead in the first OT. Really gonna be a battle to finish here.

We’ve missed 10 free throws tonight. That hurts.

Lost by 1 in 2OT. Damn.

I think we’re a little closer to the middle of the pack than the top of the league, and that’s becoming more clear each time we play.

Still leaps and bounds better than last year and have a lot of faith about this program moving forward. Just being realistic about my expectations for this season. Would be huge to fight for the top 4 and win a game in the MAC tournament to get to the semifinals this year. I’m wondering if that might be our ceiling, though.

There was a 3 minute span at the start of the first OT where Central stopped hitting hard shots. And it looked like we had it.

Every time Agee sat, they crushed us on the boards. The hit all kinds of shots, good and bad. We missed all kinds of shots, good and bad.

If the two teams play exactly like this but hit a relatively normal FG%, we win by 10 in regulation.

Sigh.

Not good enough tonight. Simon was livid during the post game interview. Said we didn't have enough intensity in the first 10 minutes and weren't tough enough finishing. We were up 5 with 90 seconds to go in the first ot with the ball. Have to close that out.

Let's get a big bounce back Tuesday against Buffalo

Tough loss, especially when CMU’s best player (and another) were out and we were at hone. BG’s poor shooting cost it tonight. CMU shot 51% from the field while BG shot just 33% and jacked up 33 threes and only hit 7 of them (21%). BG blew that first OT, and we left the door open and it cost us. I hate close losses and losing by 1 in 2OT was a dagger. That’s back-to-back losses at home in OT too. Damn…

This issue isn’t so much that we took 33 threes, it’s that we only hit 7. Hitting from deep at a 21% clip obviously isn’t good enough - that number needs to be closer to 40%.

Simon’s system involves chucking a ton of triples, so we need to continue to develop that part of our game to raise our ceiling. When we can shoot well, we’ll be a really tough team to beat.

Like you said in a different thread we need a consistent shooter. Whether that's a guy like denny starting in Phillips spot or a guy like fox off the bench I'm not sure. With hill, Agee, and spurgin we need someone to help space the floor and Thomas isn't consistent enough for that. Also need a guy that can defend. Who on this team do we trust to slow down the opponents star player? It's year one in the rebuild so the roster won't be perfect but those are questions we need to address to be on top of the conference

Same as every loss, we don't force enough misses and we don't make shots. It's what this team is at this point. CMU was shooting 80% from the field for the first 10-15 mins of the game because basically every possession was a dunk or layup. We shot 21% from three where probably 90% of them were wide open (surely by CMU design). I have no qualms taking the open 3s but you can't shoot 21% on them. Missed way too many free throws as well.

Easy to say this game would've been a win if we could shoot, just as easy to say it's a blowout if we didn't win the TO battle so decisively.

Bottom line we blew a 5pt lead at the end of regulation, then again in OT. We had plenty of chances to ice the game in both sessions and couldn't do it. Very frustrating loss.

I saw us take a tone of very good looks and just couldn't hit.

One consistent thing I saw, when the pass was low and we had to reach down for it, then uncurl the entire body length and finally shoot - we missed it every single time. Those passes need to be chest height, not below the knees. We need to work on that.

But the intention was right. Somebody made a pass to an open player who then took an open shot. It was the right play. But the execution was off.

And we did that like 10 times.

I believe that Humphrey was supposed to be that guy. He shot 43% from 3PT last year and was a top 25 JuCo recruit, but just hasn't been able to get it going yet. If he finds his shot that will be a big boost to the offense.

Jaxon Pardon coming in next year will be a big addition to our shooting as well.
