vs. The Dudes with Big Anchors on Their Sweaters (2/9 & 2/10)

Post by TalonsUpPuckDown »

Lake State this weekend, they're coming off a bye week. Why do I keep thinking the Lakers aren't very good when they're in 3rd place in the league? Sure, they're .500 just like we are and they have 3 games in hand, but their last 3 series have gone:

vs. NMU - SWEEP :D
Home-and-home vs. Ferris - swept :-(
vs. Tech - Split :?

We just swept Ferris and split with the Mavs before that. Yeah, that's pretty good, but what does it mean? Have we turned the corner and now have the Eye of the Tiger so look out for the Falcons or does Ferris just stink and it's business as usual for us? Which Laker team will show up, the one against NMU or Ferris?

Standings today:

Code: Select all

Team GP	PTS	Pt%	RW	RL	OW	OL
1	St. Thomas 18	34	.630	11	6	0	1
2	Minnesota State 18	32	.593	8	5	3	2
3	Lake Superior 19	28	.491	7	7	2	3
4	Bemidji State 16	27	.562	8	6	1	1
	Michigan Tech 18	27	.500	7	6	1	4
6	Northern Michigan	18	25	.463	6	8	3	1
7	Bowling Green 16	24	.500	7	7	1	1
8	Ferris State 19	16	.281	3	12	3	1
Standings if everyone splits this weekend and we sweep:

Code: Select all

	Team GP	PTS
1	Minnesota State 20	35
2	St. Thomas 18	34
3	Bemidji State 18	30
 	Bowling Green 18	30
 	Michigan Tech 20	30
6	Lake Superior 21	28
7	Northern Michigan	20	28
8	Ferris State 19	16
With 4 weeks left we could be in the hunt for a home playoff spot. Seriously, after all the crap and BS, this league is so bad this year that we're still in it. But here's the thing. I got my hopes up after our first sweep of Ferris only to have Bemidji and Ohio State kick me in the you-know-what's. Not this time. Show me something this weekend and I'll climb back on the bandwagon.

Out how long? Just Friday? Whole weekend? Indefinitely?

That would be a huge loss.

Did Eigner have a presser this week? I've been looking for a bit now and haven't found one online anywhere.

Yes. Per Wikipedia:
A winning streak, also known as a win streak or hot streak, is an uninterrupted sequence of success in games or competitions, commonly measured by at least 3 wins that are uninterrupted by losses or ties/draws.

Huge win. This team is getting hot in February. I didn’t know we were allowed to do that.

Still sitting 6th, but just 3 points behind 3rd place. We’re in the thick of it. Huge game tonight.

Beat another team we should be beating. Speculation is all based on BG not losing with no margin for error. Win tonight makes next week interesting atleast. Somehow we win the next three things will get exciting with Tech coming to town.

Couple of early goals from Ethan Scardina and BG leads 2-0 early in this one.
