@ St. Thomas (2/16-2/17)

Post by mbenecke »

The magnitude of this weekend's series cannot be overstated. Despite all of our struggles last year, the relative weakness of the conference combined with our recent hot streak has us in the thick of the MacNaughton race in mid-February. Just how high are the stakes? Despite sitting in a tie for 4th with Michigan Tech right now, BG can leave the weekend in sole possession of first place (!) in the CCHA with 4 games to play, if things fall the right way. Tech and Mankato are both off, and Bemidji plays Ferris.

Friday night's game will begin at 8:07pm EST, with Saturday's game starting at 7:07pm EST. Both will be available to stream through FloHockey, as always.

An opportunity to completely swing the narrative on this season is staring us right in the face. Time for our guys to take advantage of it and shut idiots like me up.

Go Falcons.

They are 7 - 3 at home haven't been swept all season until last weekend (OT loss was 1 game). Lost 3 of last 4.

FRIDAY NIGHT WILL DICTATE EVERYTHING.

Win Friday, things will get a little tighter on the Tommies bunch Saturday.

It's so wild that we're looking at this St. Thomas team in 2nd place at this point of the season with a sub-.500 record. They're literally 13-14-1 and sit 1 point out of first place.

We have no reason to fear them, as they are no juggernaut. Respect them, but play good hockey and results should come our way.

Sounds like some folks might be getting their hopes up?

While I’m not there yet, I will agree it’s more enjoyable with today’s conversation tone than what it was in Nov.

BTW, the injury bug has hit the Tommies hard. They listed two d-men as 4th line wingers this past weekend. Not that I’m try to get anyone’s hopes up…

I don't know about getting my hopes up, I just see an opportunity in front of us that didn't seem possible when we were playing so poorly to start the year. I also find it very, very funny that THIS could be the year, of all the years, that we win a conference title. Lol.

Stoever gives up one he’d like back. 2-1 Tommies at the first intermission.

Somehow we escaped the second tied 3-3 though we have 20 min of misconduct penalties. Not very disciplined out there.

3-3 end of 2nd.

Refs seem to have very little tolerance for non sense.
3 game misconducts, 2 from BG and 1 from St Thomas.

2nd BG ejection had to be verbal and something said because nothing physically happened on the ice.

I thought the ref said they were 10 min misconducts, not games?
