Offseason 2024

Post by TalonsUpPuckDown »

I guess it's time to start this thread. Will there be lots to talk about?

Looks like 6 incoming freshman with 2 seniors leaving. Yeah, I'd say there's going to be plenty to talk about. Timing of that talk is still up in the air.

Can I get a list of the 6 newbies?

Lookeberg, Nordström, Moe, Martin. Zinka and Kerr I'm not 100% about. Both are early 04s.

The 3 2003 birth years exhaust their Jr eligibility this season. The 2004s have one year left, which there are 3. The 6 was a quick glance, might only be 4. Lookeberg and Nordström committed together, so I imagine they are a package deal.

Max Martin is an 03 so this is his last season in juniors. Evola and Eigner are the same year.

Updated. Looks like we have 6Fs and 1D coming in next year. Plus Ozar and Pasanen still have 4-year eligibility. Plus Scars and Fyten. Is the locker room big enough?

Some of the 04s could be deferred another year. It's a risky game. Wouldn't surprise me to see a couple early departures, whether transfer or otherwise.

Tommy Pasanen doing a PSA for BGSU One Day. One could conclude he's sticking around though one never really knows.

He was one of the three seniors (along with Fyten and Scardina) that announced on senior night that they would be doing a victory lap next year. I’d guess he’s sticking around to finish grad school, so I don’t think the coaching move would change his mind.

This was unexpected as I was thinking he was headed to the portal. Maybe I have to rethink that.

We haven't had anyone hit the portal yet, right? I'm assuming guys are waiting to see who the hire is before they make their decision on what's next.

Now that you've jinxed it......"It's been a quiet offseason" flashbacks.......

Credit Coach Carr and everybody else involved from the Athletic Department with keeping a mass exodus from happening. The important portal date is when it opens to everybody. It's almost a necessity for the players to know who the coach is doing to be by that date. Spots elsewhere fill up fast, and they're not going to risk missing out.

I just checked GPL's portal page, no new Falcons added so I guess the caption was referring to something else?

Next milestone is 3/31, though I was under the impression that the portal was immediately open to anyone who experienced a coaching change.

The caption seems to be old and referring to a few years ago when Ford, Johnson, etc. were all in the portal.
