Next milestone is 3/31, though I was under the impression that the portal was immediately open to anyone who experienced a coaching change.

The portal opened for all BG players the day Eigner was let go. Depending on when Williams finally gets on campus, if the portal is still open there may be some guys jump in late.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 3:56 pm I just checked GPL's portal page, no new Falcons added so I guess the caption was referring to something else?

He doesn't need to make major roster changes to be competitive. Get these guys to show up every game, all game, and they're competitive. Get a couple guys to consistently put the puck in the net and it'll be a heck of a season.

Noticed an ASU defenseman in the portal with nearly 40 points. Know nothing about this player, but that good and in the portal smells like swankler 2.0

Or he's finished his degree and they don't have a grad program he wants to go into during his bonus COVID year.unfalconbelievable wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 8:21 am Noticed an ASU defenseman in the portal with nearly 40 points. I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.

Bowling Green remains the only team from either the State of Ohio or the MAC to win the mens ice hockey national championship.

Sounds about right. What team do you think will take a chance on him now? Probably a VERY desperate team, if there is one.

According to the Tech guys Swankler was cleared to play in the NCAAs and was a scratch. I do not want to anger the hockey gods by celebrating but this kid is a fantastic talent and can be a force if he ever gets his head screwed on straight.

I agree. NHL-level talent. High school-level maturity. It's a shame because if he had just been even a tiny resemblance of a leader he could have gone down as an all time great at BG.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 9:43 am According to the Tech guys Swankler was cleared to play in the NCAAs and was a scratch. Half the league is desperate for wins. Wouldn't be surprised if we ACTUALLY see him again in BG as an opponent. Ferris, Lake Superior, Northern. However, I do believe our league has picked up on his scent. Maybe Miami?
Re: Offseason 2024
I'm sure he and his dad probably think they are above it, but I'd almost wonder if RMU would take him on as a transfer being a local kid and the fact that the program was very transfer heavy and could use some talent due to just returning as a program.

From Mike McMahon this morning:
Yes, Swankler is back in the transfer portal. He had a short run at Michigan Tech with three assists in 10 games. He didn’t appear in a game after Feb. 3 and, per a source, was not with the team for much of the last two months.
Nice to see he likely wore out his welcome in Houghton too.
