The great news is it’s only $10/month. I’ll take that.

Re: Offseason 2024
Do we know that for a fact? I knew that the "channel" is that rate, but they're creating their own "CCHA TV" network as a separate thing. I think it said pricing and whatnot was coming soon (according to a Midco tweet), which meant to me that it could be a different price. I hope you don't have to subscribe to Midco in order to then subscribe to CCHA TV, a la buying UFC PPVs after paying for ESPN+ or buying a month of DAZN before you can buy a boxing PPV on their platform.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 10:40 am The great news is it’s only $10/month. Gotta love this sweet business model taking over the sports/entertainment industry.

Re: Offseason 2024
We bought a year of Flo for $160. With that, you get the entire package. We actually bought it because my wife grew up performing Winter Guard so we watch world finals on WGI every year. $160 is cheaper than buying tickets for the events. But, you also get hockey, racing, track and field, etc. To me, that's a real bargain instead of $10/month for just hockey.

It turns out that no, we do not know this for a fact as “pricing has not yet been determined” per the CCHA Director of Communications. I’m sure it’ll be just fine. Re: Offseason 2024
That's exactly where I'm at with it. Yes, $160/ year for just BGSU away games is kind of steep (it's another season ticket), but like everything, it's what you make of it. I can say I'll be watching the Walleye again tomorrow night. Watched Spencer Kersten score a goal a couple nights ago. Have watched game involving multiple former players all season long. And when there's no interesting hockey, there's almost always a dirt track event going on. For me, the move to Midco is an annoyance with another subscription.footballguy51 wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 12:39 pm We bought a year of Flo for $160. With that, you get the entire package. Sounds like the league and Midco will be producing more league-specific content on a regular basis. Also, the midco brass will be making road trips to all CCHA sites. I’m feeling a little less nervous about the deal. We’ll see.

Re: Offseason 2024
At the same time, Midco JUST had a bunch of layoffs, and is cutting coverage of high school sports. It seems odd from that perspective.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 4:52 pm Sounds like the league and Midco will be producing more league-specific content on a regular basis. Re: Offseason 2024
Absolutely pissed about this. We watch lots of racing, the Walleye and BG on Flo. To go to Midco is the dumbest thing ever
Re: Offseason 2024
My preferences were to get on ESPN+ with the rest of BG sports or stay on Flo, possibly at a lower price point. To go to a separate streaming service with no added bonus… kinda sucks.
We’ll see what the packages look like.

According to social media, our old friend Austen Swankler has apparently transferred to D3 Chatham University.

Hopefully playing at home (in Pittsburgh) helps him get his head screwed on straight. Such a waste of talent.

Was a women's college until 2015ish. Nicknamed the "Cougars." What a time to be alive.
The talent gap will almost be unfair. Hardest battle he has to fight is at home.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 12:51 pm Hopefully playing at home (in Pittsburgh) helps him get his head screwed on straight. Such a waste of talent.

Re: Offseason 2024
You're right, it hadn't sunk in that this in no way aids his development other than keeping him in the game. He may be starting out as an SPHL guy after this year. This is a kid who put up 70 points in two years who is now trolling for a place to play. He could have been a legend around here despite his personality if he'd just chilled a bit.

Re: Offseason 2024
He's the way he is because of the people around him. If he had the right person telling him to accept the consequences of his actions, he'd probably be signing an NHL contract right now. Instead, the petulant child is teaching him.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 3:33 pm

Re: Offseason 2024
The talent gap on his own team isn't going to help him, either. Chatham is barely a mid-tier D3 team, finishing 53rd in the pairwise out of 85 teams.pdt1081 wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 1:39 pmWas a women's college until 2015ish. Nicknamed the "Cougars." What a time to be alive.

I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.
