Also rated very high in the 200 and 400 high school. I'd love BG to try to entice high caliber athletes to play multiple sports. Just need them to commit to one as their priority and make sure other athletes don't get bent out of shape about it if they miss a lot of practices in their secondary sport.
Simpson won the Class 4 regionals this weekend for the 200 and 400 and anchored the 4x100 relay to win. She has not high jumped this year. Her 200 time of 26.96 is tenth in Class 4 and her 400 is second. Saw an article that was earlier in the spring where she said she wanted to run track again to build up her leg muscles for basketball. Mentioned her 400 was her best event. Ran under a minute at 59.16. BTW High Jump winner in her Regional was only 5'0"

Ah, the BG release on her said 5'10. Thx for the correction. Sounds like maybe the 200 and 400 would be the better events for her.

She did jump 5'10" as a Freshman at Belding HS but has not competed in that event since.

The BG release said she jumped 5-10 as a freshman, which I guess would have been at the 2021 state meet.

EDIT: I can't read this story https://www.thedailynews.cc/articles/si ... -years/#//, but the subhead says she jumped 5-10 that year.

Simpson pretty much took Saugatuck to a third place finish in the Michigan Class 4 track finals this weekend. She was second in the 400 with a time of 59.01. Got 8th in the 200, anchored the 4x100 relay team to 3rd, and added a 4x200 relay 5th place. Obviously a strong runner with speed. Also, probably would have won the High Jump if legs were completely healthy as winning jump was 5'4".

Anyway, according to the interwebs, Tubergen is in the portal as well. I understand if she and Riddle leave, but they both seem like great kids & I will continue to hold out hope they they both return.
As far as Tubergen I did not see that news but it does not surprise me either. I could see her going back to Michigan and playing at Grand Valley or something similar.
Had not heard anything on Jaci Tubergen so did a little digging. Nothin on WBBblog but her Twitter and Instagram handles indicates she is on Wayne State's WBB team now.

First week back for the BG Women. Viewing some of the pics I noted that there were 15 players in the group but earlier this week there were only 14 on the roster. That has changed and a 15 player has been added. She is 5'6" G Taylor Wallace out of Michigan who played at Arbor Prep. Furthermore, she is the daughter of former Falcon great Paulette Backstrom. Looks like she is a 3 point shooter and whether she is a PWO or took the last open schollie is unknown.

Im probably way late to this but I noticed Simpson isn't on the roster anymore. Anyone know what happened here?

Knee injury early in the year. Had surgery and stayed home throughout winter break. She was given the option to return to campus or stay home. She chose to stay home and was removed from the team. She will be entering the portal.
