2024 Baseball Tournament

We'll play Thursday at 2pm against the winner of Ball st and Toledo. Winning the first game is crucial because if we lose then we have to play an extra game compared to the 2 vs 4/5 loser (thanks MAC) which means we have to play 6 games to win the tournament. Win and we play 4 or 5 max. I also don't get why we play the 3/6 winner and not the 4/5. Let's bring the trophy home!

BG actually plays the lowest seeded winner between the two games…Western got the 2nd bye and they will play the higher seeded winner.
Not sure it makes a huge difference. This field is pretty wide open. BG’s dominance was based off an unbelievable offense and a healthy DJ Newman throwing 6 innings every Friday.
They still have a deep athletic lineup without Newman but they’ll have to have some consistency from their arms.
The stadium they’ll play at in Avon is usually a very offensive park…wind blows out usually and short down the lines, deep gaps and minimal foul territory. Gotta throw strikes and keep away from big innings.

Downloadable bracket said we play game 1 winner but I'm sure that can be wrong. Need to win as much as possible if our pitching depth is hurt

Game 1 final today....Ball State 5, tsun 1.

Per the MAC website:

"Ball State will play No. 2 seed Western Michigan at 6 p.m. on Thursday in its next game of the MAC Tournament."

* The No. 1 seed will play the lowest seed to advance from the first round of the tournament games.

I think we play the winner of Game 2, Kent and Miami, first pitch at 6. Ball State is #3, MU is #4 and KSU is #5.

Took control in the middle of the game and cruised to a 12-4 win. I didn't like using krouse up 9 when we have so much tournament left. I would have thrown someone deeper in the bullpen out there to see if they can get three outs to save the arm. Oh well let's get the next two

Big win…I’m sure Hallock wasn’t planning on Krouse throwing 30 pitches to get thru the 9th, but he’s fine to come back tommorow or Saturday. You use whatever arms it takes to stay in the winners bracket. You start holding guys back, it backfires and you end up burning more arms than you were planning anyway.

Me too! This is their time of year and we struggle against them all the time. Not crazy about tsun winning but hopefully they lose today.

Miami has quite a few Power 6 transfers. Two of their pitchers transferred from Michigan and both had ERAs above 10

I don't understand the bullpen use. We use Krouse yesterday up 9 but put in arn today down 3-0. For those that don't know arn has our second worst era at 10.9. Offense hasn't done anything so far but arn can't be in this game

Man, WMU sure has BG’s number this year. This was a damaging loss as BG now has to win 3 in a row and would also have to beat WMU twice. The Broncos just need to win once and they win the title and are off to the NCAA Regionals. That’s three loses in a row to them now including back-to back shutouts by the score of 11-0. BG is still alive but now has to play its way out of the loser’s bracket. WMU is sitting pretty to win this thing now and still has a loss to fall back on.
