I think the CC/MSU games are the same weekend as our trip to RIT.

Yes, but there would be two open games on each's schedule. As close as East Lansing is, something could be worked out.

Bergeron has joined the Sabres as a scout. He will evaluate draft-eligible current NCAA players and undrafted free agents.

Any word on Eigs?

McMahon reporting Potulny is resigning at NMU for another opportunity. Big loss for them after a tough offseason with the portal. Rick Comley has been named the interim.

Seems a bit off. Both assistant coaches moving to other NCAA assistant positions at the same time. Means things have been in the works for awhile.

Portal reopens for NMU players for 30 days.

The timing of this (mid-June, after they had a ton of guys hit the portal in the spring) feels very fishy. Wonder how many guys they lose from their “#1 ranked” recruiting class. If it’s me, and great respect to our elder posters here, I’m not looking to play for someone who will turn 78 during the season and hasn’t coached in 13 years, even on an interim basis.

Comley is "interim head coach" handling day to day responsibilities, much like Coach Carr did here. There's zero chance he'll be behind the bench for puck drop. The fishy part is both assistant coaches having new jobs before any sort of announcement.

You don’t think there’s any chance he coaches in games? Gonna be hard to put together an entire new staff in mid-June. I had thought he might coach the season and then they would try to hire a long-term coach at the normal point in the hiring cycle next spring.

But you’re right in looking at the press release - they’re beginning a coaching search immediately. Best of luck to them, I guess!

Thank you for the "Okay, Boomer..." love.

What I don't get is how a guy who has had, at best, marginal success in a lower tier NCAA league grabs ahold of an AHA head coaching (from what I've read on the various rumor mills) gig.

No chance. And I highly doubt he wants to even try. If it's a desirable position, they won't have a problem filling it at this point. There's still 2ish months until preseason training camp starts. You may see a couple incoming transfers re-enter the portal if their other offers still exist.

According to the Atlantic Hockey website, Robert Morris is playing an exhibition game at Bowling Green on Thursday, October 10. Robert Morris then plays at the USA Development Team on that Friday and Saturday. I am guessing that is being added to fill the open weekend caused by Western Michigan's scheduling snafu.

With the recent portal entries and recruiting flips, Northern looks to be hurting for next season. Looks like a very bad situation up there right now.

To me, this is more eye rolling than anything else, but Schlossman is reporting the following about the Tommie departure:
a) it was expedited because "the CCHA was 48hr from dramatically increasing exit fees" (they'd clearly been talking about this for a while)
b) that the CCHA members are "furious about the exit"
c) that the Tommies may be kicked out of the CCHA after this year (they have no exit fee if they give a 2-year notice) and the Nachos likely won't take them next season meaning Rico will have to play as an independent for one year

The Mankato fans are losing their sh!t over all this, the UP guys seem to be pretty upset, seems like we're in the "meh" camp. I guess distance from Minnesota is correlated against how upset one is over the situation.

A little late for Alabama-Huntsville, unfortunately. That could have been a good rivalry.
