2024 Offseason
Re: 2024 Offseason
I wouldn't be so sure on that. It's going to depend on what was in his contract. "Allegedly" isn't exactly a firm standing when in court.BillyLP wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 2:39 pmLol he won't get anything. The only thing it'll cost UT is lawyer fees, and they probably have a group on retainer anyway.Flipper wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 2:11 pm UT has been sued for $10 million by an asst coach they fired.

Robert Armand is being hired to replace Rasool as CBs coach.
He spent 3 years at BG under Loeffler as a grad assistant before being a defensive quality control guy at Vanderbilt. He had been hired as the linebackers coach at Maine in March, but now he’ll return to BG as the full-time DBs coach.
Welcome back, Robert! Let’s work!

The football team will officially have new uniforms this fall. The highlight of the announcement is the return of orange jerseys, which haven’t been featured since November of 2017.

The big 12 along with cusa, mountain west, and American are considering selling their naming rights for their conferences. College football keeps getting more gone and I'd almost rather fall behind at this point. Better than being the Arby's conference we have the MACtion

Cute to think we'd actually get a national sponsor like Arby's.fanatic13 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 11:33 am The big 12 along with cusa, mountain west, and American are considering selling their naming rights for their conferences. More likely it'll be the Swenson's conglomerate of Biggby Coffee schools brought to you by Barrio Tacos.
For selling the naming rights 3x over each MAC school will pocket $50k annually, and it'll be a 30 year commitment that ties up the conference in the agreement but any of the naming sponsors retains right of termination with no penalty whenever they feel like it. It'll probably in someway also prevent schools from selling naming rights to their own stadium or some such BS.
These dollars will in actuality be hidden in bureaucracy so we cannot truly follow them, and the MAC office with a handful of presidents will talk about the "landmark deal" that will "keep us in line with the rest of D1" while we continue to get lapped in every way.

How we haven't had orange jerseys the last few years is beyond me. It's BG's primary identity color for crying out loud. I'm thrilled it's back but it shouldn't ever have been gone.

Re: 2024 Offseason
I would argue that, in football at least, this color is actually brown in a couple of senses:
1. In football, brown is the traditional home uniform color. We got away from that during the Blackney and Meyer years, but overall brown is the traditional color.
2. Brown is also the more distinctive color. Plenty of other universities wear orange jerseys, but when we wear brown with orange accents, there is no mistaking us for Syracuse or Illinois or any other school in Division I.
I guess we'll see how the team plays it this year. I suspect orange will be a kind of third jersey we roll out once in a while, just based on what seems to be Loeffler's preference for brown. But we'll see.
I really liked the previous uniforms, especially with orange lids, brown jerseys, and orange pants. The orange trim on the numerals and the "Bowling Green" on the front appealed to me. On the other hand, the old design was a little close to what Toledo was doing, and perhaps a little cookie cutter.
These truly will be a return to tradition. It is difficult to be unhappy about that.
Re: 2024 Offseason
It's not really a return to tradition. Nike has made a more simple look with side shoulder stripe for almost every team they did a redesign for this year. It's more of a coincidence that it matches our former jersey. I am happy to have orange for a game or two the next few years

Another portal addition but with an interesting twist. TE Rocco Hicks who played 4 games with no stats last season and graduated from BG in 3 years is pursuing his dream to play collegiate lacrosse. Good luck Rocco and congrats on completing your Bachelors at BG early.
