Aw man, the urinal I've been using since 1981 is gone. Progress, I guess...

Even though I'm beyond it, I'm hoping they put changing tables in all the restrooms.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 11:18 am Aw man, the urinal I've been using since 1981 is gone. Progress, I guess...

As expected, a player has filled a lawsuit against the NCAA for denying CHL players eligibility. Lawsuit is expected to be won, and CHL players granted eligibility. Timeline remains to be seen. Recruiting is going to be interesting.

Here's a link for more details. I think this helps us (referring to both BG specifically and the CCHA in general).

Helps BG? BG has a coach behind the bench that every not only every CHL player knows, but so does every kid playing within the Canadian Junior program.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 9:57 am Here's a link for more details. Re: Offseason 2024
Remains to be seen. If top Canadian junior talent wants to play college hockey, they're more than likely not coming to BG or the CCHA. Does that mean a trickle down effect of other skilled players winding up at smaller programs? Perhaps. The other factor is how this may impact NIL at the college hockey level, and if so how competitive does BG become in that realm?pdt1081 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 12:44 pmHelps BG? No way the NCAA wins this argument in court, just like all the other suits they've been dealt the past several years.

Re: Offseason 2024
I wonder what impact this will have on the relationship between the CHL and NHL with respect to the transfer agreement. Right now...if a player is drafted by the NHL from a CHL team...he has to stay in the CHL until he turns 20 (Dec 31 is...I think ...the cutoff ) or he plays in the NHL. He can't play in the minors. If a kid can get drafted by an NHL team from the CHL as an 18 year old...can he go to college for a season and then sign a professional contract with the team that drafted him and be free to play his final season or seasons wherever the NHL team wants him to?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Re: Offseason 2024
Was my high school athletic association engaged in an "illegal conspiracy" when I had to affirm I was an amateur to play freshman baseball?
I get that this lawsuit is written in legalese, but I'm having a hard time taking it seriously. Why do we expect the kid to win it?

Re: Offseason 2024
CHL players are given per diem for expenses. Some, have NHL contracts on top of that. NCAA has always claimed it was a "professional" league, because the players were paid. With the onset of NIL and now revenue sharing, they are no more a "professional" league than the NCAA. The only difference now is the inclusion of NHL contracted players under the age of 20 that play in the league.Critical Thinker wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 1:33 pm Was my high school athletic association engaged in an "illegal conspiracy" when I had to affirm I was an amateur to play freshman baseball?

Re: Offseason 2024
Bergeron has been hired as an associate head coach for the AHL Cleveland Monsters. Looks like the guy can't quit Ohio. Funny fact: the current Monsters head coach used to be a player at Miami State when Bergeron was a Rico assistant.

Was expecting Hagen Moe, but it appears he's heading to the FPHL to play for Todd McIlrath.
