Maybe all of you knew this, but I just realized/learned the $130 fee to MidCo is ONLY for the CCHA games and that no other content is available. Now I don't care at all about any of their other content, but, wow, that $130 feels even steeper.

I had wondered about that.

It really is such a rip off. Lol. And combine that with the fact that you’d need to pay $30 for a month of Flo to watch the opening Mercyhurst series and the road game at RIT, plus multiple separate subscriptions for the WMU game and for the Ohio State road trips. Also, the RMU and Simon Fraser home exhibitions apparently aren’t even going to be available on Midco?

Bad time to be a CCHA fan. Our conference leadership has no sense of direction.

This likely means the CCHA is getting a substantial cut of the subscription fee from MidCo, which probably drove the move away from FloHockey in the first place. It sucks being a sports fan right now with having to sign up for all these different providers. The consumer is being taken advantage of.

Link to the photos. Bummed they didn't
a) show what center ice looks like (did they change the design or is it the same as last year?)
b) show the boxes/club seats as construction is supposed to done (or nearly done)

Center Ice looks the same as last year. Looks like orange lighting has been added. There were some distant pictures of the new boxes in an earlier post.

A few days ago from McMahon:

Bowling Green

Last Season: 13-22-1 (56th in Pairwise, 6th in CCHA)
Recruit Class Ranking: 64th
Predicted League Finish: 6th (out of 9)
College Hockey Insider Score: 557.0

Good teams are built from the out, and goalie Cole Moore (2.87/.918) might be the best player on the Bowling Green roster after a terrific freshman season.

Moore flew under the radar in the CCHA mostly but ended up wrestling the job away from veteran Christian Stoever. Stoever is back for his senior season and will push Moore for his job back. Two years ago, Stoever had a 2.86/.914 line in 31 games.

Despite a coaching change — Dennis Williams took over for Ty Eigner — Bowling Green was one of the few teams in the country not to have a player enter the transfer portal. The Falcons picked up some important pieces, including Jackson Niedermayer (9g-4a) from Arizona State and Ville Immonen (8g-16a) from Union. Those additions should help returning forward Ryan O’Hara (10g-8a) and Brody Waters (6g-9a) pace the offense, and they’ll be needed after the Falcons finished 54th in goals last season.

Bowling Green’s recruiting class is ranked 64th, but that’s due to its size more than it’s quality (there are only three players in the class).

Forward Adam Zlnka (4.00*) is a Utah draft pick, and he should provide immediate help up front. Last season in the USHL, he had 18 points (10g-8a) in 46 combined games for Waterloo and Des Moines.

NAHL leading scorer Max Martin (3.75*) is also an incoming freshman. Last season for the Wisconsin Windigo, he had 97 points (44g-53a) in 60 games, which led the league in goals and points.

Final Verdict: I believe Bowling Green outperforms this projection. Maybe not by much, but 51st/6th in CCHA feels a little too low from the eye test. Somewhere around 4th or 5th in the CCHA seems more likely.

If we are below 4th this year and aren't at-least 3rd next year......STOP HIRING ALUMNI.

I hope Willy does great and brings back competitive Hockey to BG. Got a community starving for a winner. The three winningest coaches in the program built it up and all left for their Alumni (York - BC, Mason - MSU, Bergeron - Miami). Hopefully, we can build it up with one of our own.

Was in the Ice Arena tonight for some skating time. There was a youth game on the Main Sheet, so walked to in take a look. Bring your sunglasses. You'll need them with the lighting upgrades. It looks really nice.

Breaking News in Junior Hockey:

Sources have indicated A WHL player is expected to announce a verbal commit to a Division I NCAA team in the coming days. This announcement comes despite not yet meeting academic eligibility requirements.

I actually heard this was ASU a couple weeks ago. There are more “CHL” silent verbals out there too.

I think hiring Williams back is going to really be a bonus for BG when it comes to this developing situation.
He not only knows all the WHL recruits, he also knows all the machinations of the CHL AND the NCAA. It certainly is not going to hurt.

…..and this is coming and won’t be stopped. As McMahon has said, there will probably be a dozen or more CHL verbals to NCAA programs by the end of this year. Will the NCAA waste money and lawyers on a hockey issue after already losing football and basketball issues, doubtful.

CHL players will most likely be playing NCAA by 25-26 and given our new coaches background, we’ll probably have a few playing in BG. If they aren’t “silent” verbals already.
