Could Germain switch sports?

Post by Germainfitch1 »

We all know he is a tremendous athlete and a very well built athlete. Any way he could move to football like Antonio Gates didif he gets his knees in order? I know there are several others around hte country who played basketball but are working out for the NFL during there teams pro days.

Fitch would be best to just plea "no contest" and move on with his life without Falcon basketball. Get the degree and get a "real" job.

After he gets his fourth knee surgery; Getting a degree and looking for a "real" job, seem like a good suggestion.

So you don't feel he's "Draft-Worthy"?

Fitch was a good player, but I don't think he's good enough to be drafted. Not many teams are going to take a chance on a guy with some bum legs and a Marijuana possesion.

Portland would snatch him up in a heartbeat, if it wasn't for the knees.

Yes a guy who averaged 3.8 ppg, has 80 year old knees, and a marijuana problem has great draft potential.

I don't know which thought is more ridiculous in this thread:

1. Fitch playing another sport

2. Fitch being "darft-worthy" in basketball

I guess I was asking a question so would the question be that ridiculous?

If so. Why? antonio gates did it and NFL teams are trying out guyzs with his body type who never played college football but were greeat athletes and very good hs football players.

Now asking the question does the most athletic player at BG in Basketball in quite some time have any chance at trying out for the pro football workouts might be outside the box but it is not ridiculous. I posed the question not knowing Germains history athletically.Maybe he was an all state TE in HS. I dont know. Thats why I asked.

I have a hard time believing he can get his knees "in order" with out becoming bionic. Clearly once you have a knee injury you just open yourself up to having more and more. I don't think current medical treatments can ever make it stronger than it was before his first injury. That with the little playing time he has had, and the less then strenous practices, (Dakichs comments about sitting him on a "feeling") I don't think he can become draftworthy. Switching to football seems more likely to cause future knee injuries. Maybe he could take up Bass fishing with the football palyer (was it Keon Newson). He could stil make it on ESPN 2 that way

i wonder if coach brandon knew we had such a great tight end prospect already on campus.... maybe he wouldn't have had to recruit 600 of them this past offseason.

TEs are great to recruit, they can block, they can catch, have decent speed.

The difference between Fitch and Gates- Gates originially was slated to play both basketball and football at Michigan State. He was a somewhat highly regarded football recruit out of high school.

Also, if you are going to be playing multiple or additional sports (ala Magner, Newson) you must be in pretty tip top physical condition- obviously Fitch has the knees of a career minor league catcher.

With no disrespect meant for anyone, if the Sworden kid can take out Fitch, the football field is the last place on earth Germain should be (with the probably exception of the hockey arena).

Heck, the guy practically hasn't even been able to practice his entire time at BG. And someone is serious in suggesting he should play football!? I never ceased to be amazed at what I read on internet message boards.
