@ Central Michigan (11/5)
MACtion, for better or worse, is upon us.
On Tuesday, November 5, following our excellent win at Toledo, our Falcons (4-4, 3-1 MAC) head to Mount Pleasant to take on the Central Michigan Chippewas (3-5, 1-3 MAC). The game is set for a 7:30pm kickoff on ESPN2.
To keep up our pursuit of a MAC championship and a third straight bowl game, we’ve really gotta have this one. So, let’s do it.
Go Falcons! Beat CMU!

Dual-threat QB, Dual-threat QB, Dual-threat QB Alert!!! Are you listening BG defensive coaching staff?! Anyone with a pulse who has followed BG football knows how badly BG struggles going up against dual-threat QB's. Well, CMU has arguably the best running QB in the MAC when Bert Emanuel is on the field. Funny enough, CMU was going to go a different route this year with their offense as they brought in Iowa transfer Joey Labus, but he was injured in the Ohio game and is now out for the year. Which brings them to arguably the best athlete in the MAC in QB Bert Emanuel. This kid is downright scary with the ball in his hands. He will run it, run it, run in again, and then pop you with a pass to keep you honest. He didn't play last week vs Miami in a game CMU was rolled in because he was injured in the 4th quarter vs EMU in a game they were up double digits but lost after he went out. I would not be sad to hear he needs another week of rest for the BG game. This is a game BG should win. But playing against a nightmare matchup guy who always has the ball in his hands at all times like Emanuel can negate any advantage you have. Tyler Jefferson is also a dual-threat guy and has also been playing. So BG is without a doubt going to line up across from a dual-threat guy. I sure hope like hell we're prepared for it, because we often look very confused facing it.
GO BG!!!

Had to do a double take on this name because I remember that Bert Emanuel was an NFL WR who played 8 seasons with several teams but did have over a 1,000 yards in his 2nd season. Apparently it is his son Bert Emanuel Jr.

A great way to take our minds off the election!

NIU top RB was out and their QB got hurt early and it didn't matter.
I hate to be a pessimist, but this program just brings it out. I was ecstatic about beating the scuds and that will always be a cause to celebrate in itself, but it really doesn't make me any more optimistic about where we'll end up the season. This team just wants to avoid consistency like it was a disease and I'll never figure it out. It would be totally in character to follow up a huge win with a dismal loss to a "lesser" team on paper with key players out injured.
I hope they come out prepared, play hard, mistake free football and cruise to a comfortable win but any more when it comes to this team/coach/program, I'm only believing after I see it.
This roster has enough talent to win out the conference schedule and hoist the trophy. It also wouldn't surprise me in the least if we did something like beat Miami and WMU and lose to CMU and/or Balls Tate and end up left out of the championship game. Gotta be among the most aggravating teams in college football for their fans to watch.

Re: @ Central Michigan (11/5)
I think we can all agree that this year's team can be frustrating at times to watch simply because we all collectively know and agree the talent is there for them to not only get to Detroit, but probably even win it this year. We've seen how well they have played when they're locked in. But we've also seen where they don't play to that level and it's cost them. The NIU loss really stung because one, it was a conference loss, and two, we looked helpless with the exception of a good defensive effort. BG can't afford another MAC loss because it will likely derail a trip to Detroit, which makes these games against a team they "should" win unsettling for me going into them. Factor in some poor weather and it being on a Tuesday night and we're all aware of the craziness that can happen in these games. This is BG's third MAC away game. If BG plays the way it did vs Akron, they'll lose. But if BG plays the way it did at Toledo, it will win. They need to play with that same kind of inspiration and determination here. This is a huge flat spot situation for BG coming off a huge win at Toledo. But this is exactly what good teams do, and that is, come right back and win a game convincingly against a team you should beat.
As mentioned above about NIU being without their #1 RB and #1 QB (much of the game), it didn't matter, BG still got beat. Bert Emanuel scares me a ton but appears to be out. However, Tyler Jefferson is also a highly-rated dual-threat guy himself and RB Marion Lukes is really good. We're going to have to stop the run, especially if the weather is as bad as the forecast shows. I hope we come out fast and jump on them early and get rolling. But I fully expect to see another stressful, grind it out type of a game. Just gotta get a W either way.

70% chance of rain with SW winds 10-20mph. Expect a low-scoring game.
Side note, the MAC is really dumb to schedule games on Election Day.

What else will be on TV? Could be a good escape from politics for a couple hours.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 3:32 pm 70% chance of rain with SW winds 10-20mph. Expect a low-scoring game.

Absolutely. After a year of political ads being thrown at us continuously to the point of nausea, I'm elated to have something else to watch.
Re: @ Central Michigan (11/5)
Lorfils and Rhambo are both out tonight. Those were two new names aside from the usual suspects we normally see. Garcia is also still listed as out so I’m guessing we won’t see him this year. Maybe ever with the way guys jump around now.
GO BG!!!
Re: @ Central Michigan (11/5)
BG goes on a 12 play, 64 yard drive that takes nearly 6 minutes off the clock to start the game, and it ends in a field goal.
Falcons up 3-0 early.

If anyone can accurately explain SL's thinking when he's calling plays, I'll give you all of my money.
I know my money is very safe saying that.
