A lot to love from this game. Izzo said it himself that BG outplayed MSU for most of it. We missed about 5 WIDE open 3s down the stretch. If even 2 of those drop we would have had an exciting finish.
Yall are right about Thomas and Towns righting the ship when they're out there, and our "big 3" of Johnson, Campbell and Khayat may be as good as there is in the MAC.
We need one of Butler or Green to step up and be that guard off the bench. Butler was tabbed as a shooter but his shot looks flat and rushed right now, like hes trying to prove his worth. Green brings a lot of energy and there will be some games where he sparks a big run, but definitely plays out of control at times.
As Felt plays more, he's gonna be a menace in the MAC. I think Exacte will be a big contributor too once he gets healthy and into game shape.
Again, a lot to love here and really excited to watch this group the rest of the way!

LONG LIVE THE MONGOOSE!!

He and everyone were slow on rotations down the stretch but Towns and Thomas were both playing with 4 fouls. Between the size and the foul trouble it led to some pretty poor defensive possessions before the final 2 minutes of fouls. The stretch of non scoring initially had some good looks but the final 3 minutes were sloppy offensively as BG missed a front end one and one and Yo Yo missed a layup mostly from being gassed. The refs did BG no favors in this game.
Overall they played really well and you can tell from the post game comments Izzo was really impressed with how BG played. Another positive in general is this team shoots free throws well. Something last year they did not do.

Having 2 guys play with 4 fouls and 3 guys putting in North of 35 mins is going to lead to some rough defense down the stretch. We're definitely deeper than years past but never going to be deep enough to roll against MSU.

The officiating in MNCAA is often so bad that it's unwatchable. That was the case with this game.

We have had two games in Southern Miss and MSU where I think the officials had way too much of hand in our losses. In both of those games the opposing coaches have worked over the officials from start to finish. I would like to see Simon get a little more heated. You could really tell it was taking a toll on our guys. Good news is they have had very tough games with a lot of adversity to start the season. I think that will payoff for us later.
