vs. Niagara (11/19)

Post by mbenecke »

On Tuesday, November 19, our Falcons (1-3) return to the Stroh Center to take on Niagara (1-2). The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm, and no streaming information has been posted at the time of this writing, but I would assume it will be available to watch on ESPN+.

This game is being promoted as a white out, as the department is asking students and fans to wear white to the game.

Time to bounce back. Go BG!

This week is key for us to handle business. Niagra and bellarmine should be two wins for this team as they have played much better overall since Davidson 2H. Win both this week and go into next week’s showcase 3-3 against some solid MM competition. These guys have been fun to watch so far despite the record.

Two very winnable games this week that need to be wins.

If anyone is in the area and has never been to the Stroh for a game:

The department is promoting this game by offering 4 free tickets to any "new" customer for tonight's matchup. Seems like they want to get people in the building so they can experience a game, and the hope is to get them to come back and help build the fanbase over time.

I applaud the recent effort to increase attendance across all sports. They are definitely thinking outside the box.

Great idea, as long as they are prepared to put on a good experience (appropriately staffed, plenty of concessions).

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

Won't happen.

Northwest concessions will certainly be closed. If there is a larger than expected crowd the Northeast concessions will be slammed. The quality of those concessions will be so bad you regret your decision for giving them any money.

I applaud the dept for asking for feedback. I applaud the AD for the convos he's had with me regarding something that seems so easy to fix. At the end of hte day his answer that "The vendor is the vendor" basically tells me they don't care enough to actually change anything (or financially they cannot escape the contract). The concession vendor is garbage and nothing will improve until they hold them accountable.

They certainly won't hold the concession vendor accountable considering Rogers can't hold any of his direct employees accountable. As always eat before you go, and don't buy pop or beer from the always closed concessions when Toledo comes to town. It's likely been sitting in there since they last came to town.

Ugly early. We need some movement in our half court offense and some consistency in defensive effort.

Bad news we still need to play 40 minutes. Good news we're dangerous once we get rolling

I'm firmly on the Felt bandwagon. He's not there yet but for only five games into his career i really like what he brings to the center position

Marcus Johnson is some kind of offensive player. Incredible. Towns and Butler were fantastic in the 2nd half. 1st half was sloppy but enough fire power to keep it in reach. Felt has much better shooting touch than I could have ever imagined. Just keep winning and building over this stretch of middle of the road opponents.

For the first time in the games I've watched Johnson did enough on defense to not be awful. Good step, especially with active hands tipping some passes when he was pulled outside. If he can be merely competent on that side of the ball his offensive game is so so good.

Butler and Towns were great tonight.

I echo Felt...he's gonna keep seeing more mins. We haven't had an athlete with that height in awhile. He's bigger than Richaun was here.

I was most encouraged by seeing the ball move better than it has in other games. At one time I think every guy on the floor had 2+ assists. Good to see.

Defensively we still seem to go long stretches where we don't even seem interested. Not that it mattered but we buckled down there and built a 17 point lead then just gifted them a run at the end to cut it to 8. No reason that should happen. Defense was similarly optional for the first 5 or so mins of the game allowing them to get out to a lead.
