I am proud as well!! They didn't play scared and gave it all they had. That's all you can ask for. The key now is working hard in the offseason.

Think about it, if they did this good and got to the NCAA Tourney, think what NEXT year'll bring. Did you see Kate take control as a leader??Freshman my butt, she acted like a senior player out there. Great job girls, BG forever!

Not to reign on your parade boy  but it was more than just Kate. And I don't say that to diminish her accomplishments at all. But I attribute the success of this team to their understanding of the TEAM concept and the instruction they recieve from the coaching staff. That is their strength. That is what cannot be taken by graduation or injury. Now if we can just find a way to get that on the men's side of the ball imagine the possibilities. I only hope people will take notice of this women's basketball TEAM and get their a$$es in the seats next season. :D

With as young as this team still is, I was wondering if anyone else thinks a consistent top 25 ranking the next two years is unrealistic. I don't think it is, I mean we already started getting votes this year.

A consistent ranking would be tough the next couple of years but not impossible. We would probably have to limit out of conference losses to 1 or 2 and then go on a 7-10 game win streak to start the mac to thouroughly embedd ourselves in the top 25. That's not unreachable for this group of girls. We're losing Kelly -- a solid post player and leader off the bench, Tene -- our best on the ball defender and energy player, and sakima -- who did well when called upon but that wasn't often. compared to the rest of the tournament field, I would bet we are losing the least talent. The seniors were great leaders and will need to be replaced in that regard. I would bet that Ali and Kate take over the leadership roles next year. they both seem to have the fire needed night in and night out. The future is bright and I'm anxious to see this year's recruiting class in action. If they can ever see the floor behind the talented flock of juniors that is.

I'm not taking away anything from the rest of the team at all, they played their hearts out. You're totally right, everyone contributed and made an impact not only in this game but the entire season.

Coming from someone who didn't follow the women's team that closely ...

If I didn't know how young the Falcons were, I would have been disappointed with their performance in the second half. They were playing a team without a crucial component (their point guard), had them down by a point at the half and let it slip away. The Wildcats seized control of the game and a veteran team wouldn't let that happen.

That being said, this wasn't a veteran team. For a team that young to play that well in that venue against a team like K-State, well, impressive doesn't begin to define it.

Obviously, the Falcons need to develop some depth, but that will come. And I agree, while Achter certainly played a splendid game, there were many strong performances. Ali Mann, for one, just impressed the heck out of me, as did Liz H. The lack of depth kept a lot of these women on the court longer than most folks would have liked, but they never let up.

Coach Miller probably learned a few lessons, too, lessons that will serve him well when the Falcons return to the tournament in 06.

Hats off to a great team!

Very fine effort from the team....our shots weren't falling in the second half but credit that K State D. I don't think I want to see them play WITH Mahoney.

I thought we played very well, in control and not "nervous". For such a young team, this bodes so freakin well for the future.

We've just begun... :supz:  :partyman:

I just want to respond to the issue of a Top 25 ranking....Someone mentioned 7 of 10 to start the MAC....I hate to be the over-optimistic one in the group but let me remind you that this team lost three times in MAC play this year....to the two teams we beat in the MAC tourney....we are also the team returning 5 starters...threre is no reason we can't go 9 of 10 to start, and maybe even undefeated in the MAC!!! One can hope anyway right!!!

I want to add my own kudos to this team. I continue to be extremely impressed by everyone involved with this program.

The future is definitely very bright as well.

The MAC as a whole will stronger next year. There are several teams with a number of returning players. If Rost and Jilian are both fully recovered from their injuries next year, WMU will actually be considered the league favorite by many. BG will have to be better next year, to come close to equaling this year's accomplishments. But there's no reason to believe this team won't continue to improve. They've done an absolutely fantastic job, and look to be building something quite impressive.

There were some Washington fans sitting up by the band, they kept stating they couldn't believe how well our team played for being so young. The one lady even said she hoped she never had to see Washington play us because we'd probably win. It's great to hear others than just BG people comment on how great this team plays as a "team" and I can't wait until next year! We were up on a Big 12 team at halftime and hung in with them the rest of the game! When was the last time you could say that about a BG Basketball team?! GO FALCONS!!!
