Rice is hiring Davidson's Scott Abell as head coach

Interesting. he is 6-5 this year

Yes, but if you look at his overall record at schools that have typically been awful at football, he's been kind of a miracle worker. I think he's a great fit for Rice. Won't get them to the CFB Playoffs, but will get them competitive.

Ball State hires Mike Uremovich to be their next head coach. He's been the head coach at Butler (FCS) since 2022, and he also had 6 seasons of NAIA head coaching experience previously about 15 years ago.

Gary, IN native. Purdue and Northern Illinois alumnus. He was at NIU and NC State with Dave Doeren, then he went back to NIU to be with Rod Carey, who he followed to Temple. So, he has plenty of experience on successful MAC staffs, and he's been coaching in the state of Indiana already, too. Seems like a quality, logical hire for Ball State.

UMass is hiring Rutgers DC Joe Harasymiak as their next HC.

Fresno State hired USC LBs coach Matt Entz as their head coach.

Entz was the North Dakota State HC from 2019-2023 and won 2 FCS national titles as the man in charge there. He also won 4 national titles in 5 seasons as the defensive coordinator there under Chris Klieman.

Feels like it could be a really good hire for them.
