Not a head coaching move but BG connections for both involved. Arizona is replacing Dino Babers as their OC with Seth Doege

Should Babers be on the list of coaching candidates back here?

Meh. He'll be 64 in July, and we aren't likely to make a coaching change for at least another year. he also didn't leave on the best terms, though obviously it's an entirely different administration here now.

I'd let him call the offense and coach QBs, though.

Sneaky old guy. Kinda like how Curt Cignetti is 63, too.

Yeah Dino is a sneaky old guy for sure. He bounced around as a position coach part time coordinator for like 25 yrs before finally getting that EIU job.

I think we all question his ability to "run a program" and continually find talent to fill the ranks, but I'd take him back here as an OC in a heartbeat. I'll go pick him up from the airport myself.

I'd also be more than happy to make him the head coach and let Loeffler stay on as "GM of the program" since that seems to be a new thing for some programs these days. Of course Loeffler's salary in that scenario would be like $55k a year, but I'd be ok with it.

Dino can coach. He's old, but he can coach. OF course the people that pull the purse strings around here still think he's the reason why we lost to Miami, so it's not likely.

Looks like OU is going to stick with interim HC Brian Smith. Good for us in the long run.

I'll wait for 33's opinion on the hire before I celebrate.

Greatest coaching hire by a school that went 56 years between conference championships in the conference's history. Mountain West will say screw Northern Illinois and Toledo we want Ohio.

Between this hire and 0 players in the portal, Ohio is destined for the college football playoff next season. This the definition of a TEAM. Only the Ohio University could hire from within and lose ZERO players to the portal. Champions at EVERYTHING.
