All-Conference USA Honorable Mention at Rice in 2022.

2 years of eligibility remaining. Seems like a guy who will play right away in the defensive backfield.
Very confusing background
It looks like he played 3 snaps for Rice in 2020 Covid year
Then 2 years for Rice in 2021 (587) and 2022 (651 snaps)
Redshirted at Rice in 2023
He transferred to Kansas State for 2024 and played 66 snaps over 2 games.

He redshirted after starting for 2 years?

How he would still have 2 years of eligibility is beyond me. 1 covid years, 2 redshirt years?
My only thought is one year has to be a medical redshirt. Be happy once we're out of the covid player pool. Guys sticking around college for 6 & 7 years is ridiculous.
Am I the only one that doesn't actually care about how many total years of eligibility kids get/use?

In fact, I think if I really wanted to I could lay out a case that a lot of the issues with college football could be resolved by doing away with any restriction on total years. If somebody wants to stay a college student and play college football, why do I care if they're 26? It would almost certainly make the MAC (and similar) product far better and more competitive. The blue bloods will always lose their top players to the NFL, but it would be very interesting to see how things shook up if the 25 year olds not quite good enough for a pro football career were allowed to keep playing college ball.
No. Now that we've gone down that road of basically turning college football into the minor league pro football, why not?
Something to watch is a court case brought on by Vandy quarterback Diego Pavia, who helped New Mexico State beat BG in the 2022 QuickLane Bowl. He is suing the NCAA regarding the eligibility of JUCO players. He wants JUCO players to have 4 years of NCAA eligibility when they get to an NCAA school since the NCAA doesn't govern the JUCO schools. This season would have been his last, but yesterday a judge granted an injunction that will allow him to play in 2025.

The easiest solution for anyone frustrated with the roster churn is to drop football all together or to a lower division. It will happen regardless, it’s just a matter of whether the institution of BGSU wants to decide its fate or have its fate decided for it in a much more expensive, painful way. Evidence tells us it will be the latter, unfortunately.

There is a bit of precedence with hockey players enrolling as freshman at 21 years old. A lot of those guys are able to bring some college credits with them. Difference being, they don't play for the schools the credits come from.

Hockey players going the junior hockey route after high school, and other athletes going to prep schools after high school and all getting to enroll as freshmen are a couple points he is using as apart of his lawsuit

Anyone heard some of the amounts these guys are getting in the portal? A figure close to our coaches salary for one of the recently committed transfers.

Good for those players. This is all headed to eventual employment contracts however, especially as the NCAA is begging for congressional intervention with all of this.

If someone is willing to pay a Bowling Green football player north of 500k they would be a fool not to take it. I’m not sure what the number Hill got from NC State in basketball was, but heard Agee was just south of 500K or more than Simon.

Makes sense. Especially with him landing at a place like Kentucky.

OL is one of the areas where there are very few HS kids ready to step in and perform at a high level, even the blue chippers need time. Kentucky being a 2nd tier SEC school (at best) isn't landing any of those top tier OL from HS. At the same time, you build a good quality OL and you can win games you shouldn't win.

OL/DL/QB spending to bring in developed starters from MAC type schools seems like a good use of NIL bucks for a school in that level. Positions that greatly effect winning and need time to develop seem like the best areas to invest.
