I watched the first two games and then haven't been interested enough to turn it on. I tend to disagree with Hammb on Johnson but I certainly don't have a leg to stand on at this point because I'm not watching the games.

We're shooting over 30% from the field now. Progress...

Ohio’s kicker is in the transfer portal.

Can I put in a request for a Globetrotter coaching thread of Division 2 coaches for 2027-2030 range of hires?

I would wager if you go back and look at it St. Thomas has started well over 75% of their half court sets by getting the ball to Johnson's side of the floor and putting him on skates.

If he's not scoring 25+ per game he's killing us. They're so bad on ball screens right now that I'm not even certain if we're supposed to be switching it or fighting over it. Nearly every time Johnson and the other defender chase the ball leaving somebody wide ass open

This team is teach tape on how to NOT play defense.

I turned on the game for ten seconds and turned it off. There’s always next year right? Is this how Browns fans feel?

I was high on this coach and this roster showed flashes of greatness early. Now it looks like we will be in a coaching search next year.

I think Simon leaves this year before BG basketball can sink his reputation

This wouldn't surprise me one bit. It's not hard to find a conference these days that's better than the MAC in hoops. St. Thomas would compete for the title.

93-68 at the Stroh. That’s a really bad loss.

I really thought this group was primed to be special, but they absolutely aren’t. And that blows.

In today's era, I don't see any coach coming into a MAC school and having season-long success. It isn't an appropriate expectation. MAC schools are temporary stepping stones for kids trying to make money. I see no reason to expect more than what we're currently seeing.

We were at the game. I’m not even going to complain about the performance because it’s all been said what I will complain about was the giant disappointment of putting the show on.

Kid’s Club members can join the high five tunnel but have to meet at the marketing table on the concourse for that. Anybody know what table that is? I asked the workers and they didn’t know. We stood by the sign that advertised the high five tunnel and a woman wearing a lanyard was by it talking on the phone the entire time. Was she supposed to gather the kids? No clue because she couldn’t be bothered to get off the phone to address us. We finally find a worker that would talk to us and he said we just go down to the corner and they’ll grab us. We stood there and nobody grabbed us. So yeah, my son didn’t get to do high fives like he was promised. Why advertise it if you won’t do it. And then, nobody worked the 50/50 table either…not sure why I bother sometimes. Nice facility, programming like an 8th grade game. They will be getting an email about this.

That was disgusting.

I saw the last 8 minutes of the first half / first 5 or so of the second.

They were defending Johnson with a 6 foot, 185 pound guard - and it worked. He shut Johnson don.

That can NOT happen.

Just shoot over the little twerps head. He's 7 inches shorter than you. What's he gonna do to your shot?

On defense, we were, to a man, traffic cones. On offense, we were isolationists.

They literally DOUBLED our rebounds in the first half.

Last time I saw something that demoralizing it was v Western Michigan in Huger's last year. And that was the game that convinced me he was gone.

This is the danger with the portal/NIL combo...you get a lot of guys playing for a bag instead of wins
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

The injuries are the biggest factor. Towns is the only hope they have at playing pick and roll defense. Khayat size and athleticism helps on that end too. The MAC is dreadful so not all is lost.

I’m not disagreeing with any of the points made and have a lot of the same frustrations. Usually not an optimistic person, but I think it’s important to note that 3 out of 5 starters are injured. We should still be competing so
I’m not making any excuse but Johnson has to play more minutes than he can, Felt is a low-D1, high D2 player in the starting lineup. The injuries have caused different lineups to figure each other out. I do think Squire deserves more minutes than Felt. Felt has bad body language and brings no value to either side of the floor.

From what I’ve heard, Humphrey should be back soon.
Khayat is about 4 weeks out.
Towns was given 4-12 weeks at time of injury.
Hoping Green isn’t seriously injured.

While it is tough to watch, I still have hope for this team to get to Cleveland. Trey Thomas will start to heat up. Hoping that Humphrey will bring some defensive energy that he brought last year and we can get on a roll.

Also, in almost any sport, isn’t in common to see a sophomore (2nd year) slump? Coaches and/or players.

A lot to unpack, LOL.

Thanks for the update on the injuries. Towns is the most important piece in my opinion.

As far as the sophomore slump, Scot Loeffler would tell you that you should be pathetic and dreadful in year 2. So if Simon starts blaming Huger and Jans, he should get no pushback internally.
