A tough loss to a good team that will compete in the A-10. Could’ve very easily snuck out of there with a win. No Gerken as she’s out with a sprained ankle, certainly could’ve made a positive difference.
A few problems I saw:
- McGuff shooting from the outside (not her game AT ALL) and playing out of control. That cost us 3-5 possessions.
- Donahue is great defensively but takes gambles that sometimes result in open shots/late rotations. Duquesne knocked down those open shots, so high risk/high reward decisions.
- Velasco got her 2nd foul early in the 2nd quarter. She didn’t return until the 3rd quarter when the deficit was 19. Chmiel probably should’ve subbed her in when the lead got to 12 or 15, 19 is too big of a hole against a good team like that.
All in all, a pretty good non-conference with the one bad loss to Mercy. Hope this team can figure out things on the road for conference play as they have yet to win a game on the road this year and did not fair well on the road last year either.

ooops...wrong forum
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
