Dalton Norris was interviewed on the podcast The Reporters Corner. It's worth a listen.

How crappy is our schedule the first half of the season? Pretty crappy attendance wise. Ohio State was obviously a big night. Ferris was less than stellar. The rest of the games all come during a break when there aren't any students around. Out of 8 home games which in and of itself is an issue (I am not counting exhibitions) only 3 took place when the students were on campus.

Code: Select all

   Date Opponent Attendance	Notes
10/26/2024 Ohio State 4563 Full House
11/08/2024 Ferris 1852 Parents Weekend
11/09/2024 Ferris 2268 Parents Weekend
11/26/2024 Tech 1857 Thanksgiving Break
11/23/2024 Tech 1785 Thanksgiving Break
12/13/2024 Northern TBD Winter Break
12/14/2024 Northern TBD Winter Break
12/29/2024 RIT TBD Winter Break
I'd like to think we can do better for next year.

Dennis touched on this during his Tuesday morning radio call. BG played 4 games total during the month of November. Basically said that cannot be allowed to happen in the future. Schedule was pretty much set before he came in, so it was out of his control for this season.

Moving forward, I won't be surprised if we start seeing some mid-week games on future seasons.

BG received 3 votes in this week's USCHO Top 20 poll. Starting to creep onto the radar.

C'mon PDT, you know better than anyone that the league can't have multiple BG POW's.

For those interested, all session passes are now on sale for the Toledo Regional. One of the comments on the Facebook announcement says games are tentative 4pm and 8pm on Thursday.

The transfer portal is going to be a bit wild this offseason. AIC head coach Eric Lang is hosting a showcase of players in the portal the weekend after it opens. Purpose is to show coaches to look at a large number of kids under one roof.

Willy (and/or Carr/Paskaris) should be in the building for that. Let's go get some proven scorers across college hockey.

The more I hear about what's been going on at AIC these past few years (4 to a room on road trips to cut costs) the more impressed I am with Lang. The purpose of this showcase is to get exposure to his AIC players which is a bigly class move but opening it up to all portal players makes it doubly bigly classy. Somebody is going to get a helluva coach.

I'm certain at least one of them will be there, but I'm not exactly sure how much room there will be on the roster for transfers. Big class leaving, big class coming in. It will probably come down to how many transfer out. Current roster numbers are good in case of injuries, but not so good for retention of players.

Lang was definitely high up on my wish list for here. Didn't think we had much of a chance.

With much respect and admiration for anyone that ever chooses to come to BG and be a part of our program and university community as a whole... I'm alright with some number of players hitting the portal. I don't have specific players in mind that "should" go, but I view it like the more guys that leave, the more room Coach Williams has to bring in his guys who are (theoretically) more talented and better suited for what he wants to do here.

It's always going to be a process, but the portal gives him an opportunity to build his roster and accelerate a rebuild like never before. I'm enjoying this current hot streak, and it's made me even hungrier to return to our success from before the last regime.
