I'm watching, so there are at least 2 of us. This is a winnable game - currently tied early in the second half. It'd be nice to get one on the road.

Re: Vs Miami (1/21)
Ref ball really killed our rhythm in the middle 10 of the second half. Foul trouble while miami goes 11 deep, 2 soft offensive fouls, and a no call when johnson had three guys on top of him resulting a steal.
Once again this game could have been a win with yoyo and towns. Humphrey still doesn't impress me but at least he's another bench option. I still don't like miami

Agree. Both teams in the bonus 8 minutes into the second half. The player control foul on Felt as Thomas was shooting the late 3 was killer, definitely not a foul. Could've given up and lost by 15-20 but showed fight towards the end to make it a good game.fanatic13 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 9:03 pm Ref ball really killed our rhythm in the middle 10 of the second half. 7-11 overall and 2-4 in the MAC now. I didn’t make a game thread because I’m frustrated with the team right now, and it just feels bad. Vibes are negative right now.

Played better overall. Felt is turning into a really good player. Officiating was terrible. Have to maneuver 2-2 or better out of the next 4 before the SBC challenge nonsense. The schedule the back half of the season has to be close to the easiest in the league. Done with both Miami and Akron.
On the Loeffler curve Simon would be seeking an extension at 7-11.

It's looking that the way to beat BG is to just keep running fresh faces at us. The bench is not deep enough to stay fresh and out of foul trouble.
Kinda like the old days
Any football players with eligibility to fill in for a few weeks?

Unless he tries to bolt again this summer. I think you give him one more year, this season has partly gone off the rails from injuries.guest44 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 8:45 am Played better overall. He's a fantastic coach. I think he gets his contract. This system where you replace your roster every year has ruined college basketball.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 7:11 pmUnless he tries to bolt again this summer. I don't think he's a fantastic tactical coach offensively. Maybe it's talent, but we don't screen/move/pass in half court sets nearly as much as I'd prefer to see. It's a lot more Pick n Roll isolation heavy basketball. It's supposed to be drive and kick to open shooters far more than hit a cutter to the basket.
It's modern basketball, I get it, but I don't love it. Our offensive sets are all too often painful to watch. A good chunk of this could simply be we don't have a guard on this team capable of both attacking off the dribble AND seeing the open pass to kick it out. We have capable outside shooters. We have guys capable of attacking off the dribble. We don't have anybody with the court vision to marry those 2 skills, and if you're running this sort of system you need that. Hill was obviously an incredibly talented individual scorer, but he was also a better distributor than anybody on the team this year; we didn't have shooters to actually hit those shots last year, but he actually could see things far better than anybody on this team.
I think it's pointless anyway. I think Simon is way too good of a coach for MAC hoops and he will bolt ASAP whether we want to give him a new contract or not. I cannot fathom any coach wanting to stick around and coach in the horseshit that is basketball in this conference. Referees ruining games every night for one reason or another, he has to be frustrated by the way this conference treats the game.
Re: Vs Miami (1/21)
I’d agree he might kick the tires on a lateral move at this point. Some place where he can atleast get some NIL money to work with. Not sure what is out there but a bunch of conferences where the collective isn’t basically set up to fund football.
