Nobody here expects to win this game, with our injuries (down 2 starters) and recent form.

I won't even watch it since I'm going to hockey in town tonight.

But hey, at least we won the football game.

This might be the lightest crowd in awhile for this game at the Stroh. Hockey game and giving away the replica Ice Arenas will lead many people to go to the hockey game. If it does look crowded at the Stroh, it will clear out at halftime with people heading over to the Ice Arena.

We typically draw well from UT fans for this game, but a 6:00 tip isn't ideal for that either.

I still think it'll be > 75% full, at least at tipoff.

I don't think we win, but I don't ever expect us to win anymore.

Just complete incompetence to schedule BG/UT the same night as a home hockey game. Even football crazy Ohio State does not have basketball & hockey play at home the same days that football does. Ridiculous scheduling

It's the trash MAC TV deal as to why this is at 6PM on a Friday. The one that doesn't even make a dent in the losses for each school. The offset is 400 "free t-shirts" for 14 million in student fees.

Yep. THis game was supposed to be tomorrow. I remember even commenting (or having others comment) how the BG/UT Hoops games should always be on Saturdays. When they are they are heavily attended, etc.

But the ESPN deal, which is total bullshit in nearly every way, allows them to select 1 game per week and move it to Friday. No ifs, ands, or buts. Obviously the BG/UT game is typically a quality contest, it shows off a better than normal MAC hoops atmosphere. I LIKE having this game on the air for folks to watch.

But the fact they can throw it on a Friday (sucks), put it at a shitty time slot (nobody wants 6pm weekday games), and ho-hum it's in our contract. Eff that contract.

I'll gladly sacrifice the existence of MAC football if it merely got rid of this garbage contract.

Watch how the game at Toledo will not be moved to a Friday. Just like last year.

I know bashing the ESPN contract is the in thing, especially thanks to the weeknight football games, but don't forget to levy the hate at the contract the conference has with CBS Sports Network. They are the ones that have moved two BG home conference games to 6pm on Friday, including this one. Pretty sure they get to move a MAC game from Saturday to Friday every week, I know ESPN has some MAC Friday games, including tonight, but there isn't one on an ESPN channel every Friday like there is with CBS Sports Network.

And of course, somehow next week's CBSSN MAC Friday game (Akron at Kent) gets a 7pm start

My apologies, is that a SEPARATE contract?

I thought the CBSSN games were still part of the ESPN contract, but sold (by ESPN) to CBSSN...I didn't think we had a separate contract.

You are correct, that is my bad. Just never thought of CBS and ESPN working together on something like that with them being competitors. I found the MAC and CBS Sports Network extended the deal in 2019 with ESPN selling the games to CBSSN. That deal expired in 2023, I assume it was extended again

Toledo is having a slightly down year for their standards so I think this is going to be a coin flip. Winner will be decided by who makes the plays the last 4 minutes.

Agreed toledo should be on a Saturday. I don't hate the Friday night games as I prefer the evening games but 6 is early

Pretty good looking crowd with good energy. Toledo shooting pretty lights out from distance. Can’t decide if it’s bad defense or bad luck or both.

How do they not get Felt more touches? He seems to never miss once he’s within 5 feet of the hoop.

Toledo is on fire from three point line and we're making way too many stupid turnovers
