It'd be a bigger game if BG wasn't so up and down this year. 3 wins against power conference teams (Xavier, Marquette, and Arkansas) would make you think this BG team could compete with anyone - the downside is that we also can lose to anyone. HC Fred Chmiel is starting to have the fanbase turn on him in the last month or so, so a win up north could certainly be something that would be big for this program. I just simply don't expect it - BG has 1 road win since March last year, and I don't figure they will start winning more now.

MoMenTuM….atleast that’s what Rodney wants you to believe. If athletics were played on social media Rogers would have this thing fixed.

Another game featuring long scoring droughts...we did not come out looking ready to go in the 2nd half....again.
Really do not like how our offense works ...way too much time spent dribbling around the perimeter waiting for the open three that usually isn't there

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I will admit...this is a game that we can't really blame on coaching. Porter and McGuff were liabilities. McGuff is AWFUL considering her dad is a power conference head coach, just shows that he wasn't around a lot to help with her game. Porter is about as mentally stable as a tree in a hurricane and about as inconsistent as the concessions food at BG athletic events. Those two need to figure it out if the team wants to have any shot at Cleveland.

If you would have told someone 20 months ago that a BGSU women’s basketball team with both Amy Velasco and Lexi Fleming might not qualify for the MAC tournament you would be called crazy. This programs decline while keeping those two players is pure incompetence. Poor coaching, poor recruiting, little attention to detail, little urgency, you get it all every time they play. Bowling Green women’s basketball has so many built in advantages (tradition and fans that really care) over many other MAC programs yet here it is. And I’m not sure where you look for the future either.

Kari Pickens and Kim Cameron are where I start the search. But I don’t know anything about women’s basketball, really.guest44 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 11:46 am If you would have told someone 20 months ago that a BGSU women’s basketball team with both Amy Velasco and Lexi Fleming might not qualify for the MAC tournament you would be called crazy. To be fair - A clearly less than 100% healthy Lexi Fleming.

Either of those two would be fine, but next time there's a coaching vacancy, I hope the first call goes to Kate Achter.mbenecke wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 1:44 pmKari Pickens and Kim Cameron are where I start the search. Re: Battle of I-75 weekend!
Would probably be a decent hire considering how she has done at Mercy. I will tell you that what I heard in the last search that ended up with Chmiel, the players expressed to DVDM that they didn't want Achter because of what they heard from her players at Loyola. Looking back on it, the players would probably say it wasn't any different from how Chmiel is running the show but the South Carolina players talked about Chmiel in a positive manner. That's the danger of hiring an assistant coach to be a head coach is that you never know what side they will show.threestooges wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 3:56 pmEither of those two would be fine, but next time there's a coaching vacancy, I hope the first call goes to Kate Achter.mbenecke wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 1:44 pmKari Pickens and Kim Cameron are where I start the search. I don't think the new wave of players would have that same information/feelings so maybe she would get a shot.

I get the feeling that the recruiting went downhill when Nick DiPillo left and maybe even the game management. He seemed to have some connections but still he has a really bad team on his own at Lemoyne for his new gig.

Re: Battle of I-75 weekend!
He walked into Lemoyne in a tough spot. Hired in late May, didn't have summer workouts because of how late the hire was. Didn't get to recruit anyone for this year. Two best players graduated. I think he will end up doing fine there, but he was well respected by the team and fans here. To your point, it seemed like he helped a lot with the game management and actually had a voice on the coaching staff that Chmiel would listen to. I don't think that's the case this year.fredthefalcon wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 6:58 pm I get the feeling that the recruiting went downhill when Nick DiPillo left and maybe even the game management.
