Thought this was interesting. Elite Prospects lists him as 40 years old, and has only played in 2 professional hockey games since 2018.
Jon Horrell signed with the Atlanta Gladiators the other day as a 43 year old EBUG. He's also their video coordinator.

I've pre-ordered my copy. I'm getting the hardbound/paperback version and it's going on my bookshelf next to my copy of "Cavallini from Kane."

Was bored the other day meandering through Elite Prospects and discovered Phil Barski (00-02) is the head coach of the Bloomington Bison in the ECHL.

Guess who's back in the SPHL. Suspension has been lifted.

I just checked his stats, the kid went 24/28/52 in 24 games for his team in Italy. Wow. He also had 83 penalty minutes. There's gotta be a Gordie Howe hat trick in there somewhere.

He may just have some staying power in that league. Looks like the only other alumnus currently playing is Jordan Ernst, who was a mid-year addition during the 15-16 season.

I am probably the minority, but I liked Ernst over Adam Smith, who was also brought in at the same time. If I am remembering correctly, they were both Dmen for us, but it looks like Ernst has moved to winger.

Super happy he came up today, because I'm probably the biggest Adam Smith fan you will find around here.

Had a personal connection with him. I was a Bleacher Creature from 2016-2020, and I would write messages on a whiteboard for early warmups, before the gates opened. One day, I wrote a joke about the other team's best player being a Nickelback fan (a dumb joke, give 19 year old me a break). Adam came over and tapped on the glass and showed me on his iPhone that HE was listening to Nickelback before the game. So that was a little inside joke for us as his career progressed, and after that, I would write things specifically for his enjoyment before every home game that he would come over and read before going to suit up for the game. Saw him in the Ed Building a couple of times on campus, and also at Fricker's after a playoff game (in which he scored 1 of his 5 career goals), and he approached me to chat every time. Even now, years after he left the program and is playing pro in Czechia, we'll still send each other messages every once in a while on Instagram. One of the nicest people I have ever met in sports.

When it came time that the game-worn jerseys from that era were for sale, I had to make sure I got the #5 to represent my friend.

Someone was loaned to the Iowa Heartlanders today. Interesting enough, their next 2 games are against Toledo Friday and Saturday.
