vs. St. Thomas (2/7-8)

Post by mbenecke »

Following the sweep up north, our Falcons (14-9-4) will be home again this weekend to take on the St. Thomas Tommies (11-12-5) who are on a hot streak since the start of the 2nd half, winning 7 of their last 10 games, including a split last weekend against Minnesota State. Both games this weekend will begin at 7:07pm and be available to stream through Mid.

The last series we had with St. Thomas was back in November in their building, where we took the extra point in a shootout in a 2-2 tie, then lost 6-3 the next night. So, this will be a tough, competitive series - and considering we’re 4th and they’re 5th in the CCHA standings, this obviously has massive implications for playoff seeding and the pursuit of both the MacNaughton and home ice in general.

NOTABLE STATS:

Goals Per Game: BG 2.48 (6th), UST 2.82 (2nd)
Goals Allowed Per Game: BG 2.44 (4th), UST 2.86 (5th)
Shots on Goal Per Game: BG 33.44 (1st), UST 29.25 (4th)
Power Play Percentage: BG .194 (6th), UST .264 (1st)
Penalty Kill Percentage: BG .808 (3rd), UST .806 (5th)
Face-off Percentage: BG .525 (1st), UST .458 (8th)
Blocked Shots Per Game: BG 10.37 (8th), UST 11.43 (6th)

GOALIE STATS:

UST
Aaron Trotter (Jr.) - 20 GP, 2.55 GAA, .911 SV%
Jake Sibell (Sr.) - 11 GP, 3.03 GAA, .902 SV%

BGSU
Christian Stoever (Sr.) - 13 GP, 1.70 GAA, .948 SV%
Cole Moore (So.) - 16 GP, 3.02 GAA, .904 SV%

On this morning's radio call, Willy said Stoever is being treated for a lower body injury. Not sure he'll be out long, hopefully ready for this weekend.

Interview will be posted here, later today.

Huge home series starts tonight.

Not sure about Stoever's true status, but he was in photos at practice this week.

Some of the comments on that video are absolutely hilarious, when you consider what these 2 programs have been since this happened.

At least our program is on the way back and has some legitimate optimism. They're 3-21-2 and are 0-16 in conference play. Sucks to be a Redhawk!

Curtis says Stoever is day-to-day and that the injury wasn’t as bad as first thought.

What I love about that event is that the Miami thugs lost their minds when their goalie wasn’t even knocked off his skates. That and the assault on the way to the penalty box.

What makes that night stand out to most people is the bow Rico took on his way off the ice that went unacknowledged by the league. Really wish the Bleacher Creatures would play to that a bit....

Another good first period. Up 2-0. Need to not collapse in the second.

What’s crazy is that the current Bleacher Creatures would’ve been between about 4 and 8 years old when that happened, so they wouldn’t have any idea.

Hell, I’m 26 now and only know the stories from people on this board. Time is wild.

I won’t forget going to that game against Miami. Crazy fight to see in person. And made eye contact with Rico as he was ejected and gave him the middle finger lol.
