I can't speak to the advanced stats, but they do indeed track +/- for college games. I don't know how readily available the season +/- stats are, but you can easily find it for single games. If schools post PDF versions of the box scores, it is in the right column of the box score on the first page. And if you can find a complete game book, there's an entire page devoted to +/- breakdown. In last night's game, it is on page 17.hammb wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 10:42 pmUnfortunately, I don't think they track +/- for college games. I'm also pretty skeptical of the advanced statistics in college basketball (especially the MAC), because they're not normalized for quality of opponent, nor do I trust the reliability of the statistics required to generate those stats.Hammer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 9:46 pm The officials took over the game so I’m not sure who to blame but how could Felt sit through that entire stretch? I was high on this coaching staff but I now have a lot of questions. Why are we so bad late in games?
Do we know what Felt’s +- is? I feel like he has to be on the floor if Johnson is on the floor. There has to be a rim protector when Johnson is playing defense.
That being said, the net ratings do line up with a lot of my eye test on the season with regard to which players are +/- in net rating.
Felt has one of the best ORtgs on the team at 117.9. He's also got one of the best DRtgs on the team at 103.7. That is a whopping +14.2 net rating, by FAR the best on the team for guys that have played all year. Towns & Yoyo both had crazy net ratings (statistically just sample size variance, but it does serve to show how much they impacted our chances of winning).
Marcus is considered a positive (which I question), at +.9. Thomas and Green are both god awful at -10 & -22 respectively. Some of it doesn't make a ton of sense though. I do think Felt is helpful on offense, but I question him having the highest ORtg on the team. I greatly question Marcus not being the worst DRtg on the team. So much of these advanced stats can also be skewed by which part of games you play, which lineups you play in, etc. Even in the NBA where they are telling, they're not the end all be all.
