We have 4 games left, 12 available points. We're currently at 39 with a max of 51.

By the end of the season we need a total of 49 points to take over second. So, any combination of ten (10) points. That means we cannot lose a single game in regulation. Three regulation wins and an OT loss or 2 regulation wins and two OT/SO wins. The caveat...that assumes Tech loses at least one point. If we get 49 and they win out, we're tied and I think they hold the tiebreaker over us. If we get to 50 points and they win out, they're third and the Lucia Pets are 4th.

So it feels like we’re playing for 3rd, realistically.

Looks like the tie breakers with Tech would be:
(1) Regulation wins
(2) Total Goals For and Total Goals Against
(3) Record against Mankato.

Tech is 1-3 against Mankato and BG is 0-2. Both teams are 0-1-1 against Augustana, so that still leaves Mankato as highest team.

I'm not even going to begin to try and wrap my head around the regulation win scenario that has them tied in the standings (is it even possible to tie points percentage without having identical records?).

Total Goals For and Total Goals Against is an interesting one. Tech has scored more goals in league, but also allowed more. Currently, BG is 58 for and 51 against which gives a 0.3 Margin. Tech is 63 for, 59 against for a 0.2 Margin. I'm guessing they are using the Margin since the actual wording says Goals For AND Against.

Bottom line, just win out and let everything else fall where it may.

Can't help to think of the the three 6 on 5 goals we gave up to Bemidji last mouth and the loss to Ferris. Change those results and we are 18th in the pariwise and one point behind Minnesota State. That's a lot brighter picture with just a couple adjustments.

Not to embrace mediocrity, but after last season, looking at 6 points as "what-ifs" to have a shot at winning the regular season is almost a breath of fresh air. Based on the past few years, I can't honestly say BG wouldn't be battling with NMU right now for 2 more road games.

This.

We need to set a high standard, this program deserves that, but this season has blown past even the most optimistic fan's (me) expectations. It's tough dropping winnable games, but viewing it through the "year 1 of a new coach" lens, this has unquestionably been a step in the right direction. We're playing fun, meaningful hockey again. And I am encouraged that the future seems even brighter.

I've listened to the last two "The CCHA Show" podcasts. The 2/11 podcast talked about the results of the Tommies series. Even though we beat the hell out of that team for two nights but got stonewalled by a fantastic goalie performance the second night, the discussion was "Tommies, Tommies, St. Thomas, Tommies, St. Thomas."

The latest podcast reviewed our exhibition game with the USNTDP. The discussion was "Didn't see it, didn't see it, didn't see it, but they must have played guys who don't get much ice time." Regarding the Bemidji series, the discussion was "Bemidji, Bemidji, Beavers, Beavers vs. Mankato, Bemidji, Augustana, Beavers, Scholl, Bemidji."

None of these fine folks know the first thing about our team.

It drives me nuts. We're Bowling F**king Green. We are a great program in this sport. We deserve to be in a league that will recognize that and take us seriously.

It should not be promoted as a "CCHA" show. They are from Minnesota and the western UP. It's not going to change until there is a personality from lower Michigan or Ohio that takes an interest in college hockey. And by interest, I mean more than typing a couple words after each game.

They’ve had KP on in the past.

In fairness to them, they did agree Stoever should be third team goalie. I’m ok with that.

They had an interview with Willy a couple weeks ago also. But when the whole thing is based from that area, those are the teams that are going to get the focus.

Goalies are going to come down to the way the standings finish. There may be an argument to swap 1st and 2nd place, but unfortunately, i don't think Stoever gets 1st even if he rips off 6 straight shut outs. Then again, coaches vote and not the talking heads.

Throw up the Bat Signal.

(And I understand the general reason they no longer exist, but MAN do we miss them)
