Siborg wrote: Fri May 17, 2024 9:06 pm Brook Simpson HS high jump is 1.5 inches higher than our best this year, 5'10". I wonder if she will try for two sports.

Also rated very high in the 200 and 400 high school. I'd love BG to try to entice high caliber athletes to play multiple sports. Just need them to commit to one as their priority and make sure other athletes don't get bent out of shape about it if they miss a lot of practices in their secondary sport.
Simpson won the Class 4 regionals this weekend for the 200 and 400 and anchored the 4x100 relay to win. She has not high jumped this year. Her 200 time of 26.96 is tenth in Class 4 and her 400 is second. Saw an article that was earlier in the spring where she said she wanted to run track again to build up her leg muscles for basketball. Mentioned her 400 was her best event. Ran under a minute at 59.16. BTW High Jump winner in her Regional was only 5'0"
Simpson pretty much took Saugatuck to a third place finish in the Michigan Class 4 track finals this weekend. She was second in the 400 with a time of 59.01. Got 8th in the 200, anchored the 4x100 relay team to 3rd, and added a 4x200 relay 5th place. Obviously a strong runner with speed. Also, probably would have won the High Jump if legs were completely healthy as winning jump was 5'4".
Im probably way late to this but I noticed Simpson isn't on the roster anymore. Anyone know what happened here?
Knee injury early in the year. Had surgery and stayed home throughout winter break. She was given the option to return to campus or stay home. She chose to stay home and was removed from the team. She will be entering the portal.
Brook was at the Western game, sat right behind BG bench. Had a hug with Coach.
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

Sorry, Siborg, just now seeing this. The first 3 listed have made comments throughout the season that would allude to them transferring. McGuff told someone that the only reason she was coming back from injury was to get film to send out in the portal. Simpson was dismissed from the team so that seems like a no-brainer to the portal. Ellis and Harrison are the ones that could go either way.

I think it was very inappropriate to list names considering transferring during the season on a public forum. I think it was disrespectful to those players. Just my opinion.

I rarely visit this site anymore. This was one of the reasons.

Speaking of inappropriate, Chmiel’s clock management in Cleveland last week. To be paid and mismanage a clock like that final 31 seconds is far worse toward keeping players from transferring than what was posted on here.

Another reason to avoid this site as much as possible. I think the last time Guest 44 placed a positive post regarding BGSU was the early 1970's.

That’s a better core group coming back than I expected. I thought McGuff got better and was hoping she’d stay, but I’m not surprised. Ellis and Harrison are great keeps.

I agree. Kohler, Donahue & a healthy Gerken are a solid core to build around. I can see Ellis being one of those kids who makes the leap & hopefully brings a little more consistency. Don't know much about the two freshmen that they signed back in November, but hopefully they, along with Moschen, can be contributors. And we can also hope there are announcements of additional signees or transfers coming soon.

There are nine players on the current listed 2025-26 roster up on BGSUfalcons.com. So 6 openings for Coach Fred to fill. Hopefully, he does a better job with this assignment. Really, the best new players (Donahue and Gerken) were players initially signed by Coach Fralick. Harrison (who was a summer league teammate of Donahue and Gerken) had some off the bench moments and Ellis could be a force on the boards if she has better handles. She seemed to fumble passes that were right there a number of times this year. We shall see but I'm not sold on the staff. The upcoming season with Fralick's roster mostly gone will certainly give us more information.

Moschen is a definite wild card...she looks like she can be a more than adequate replacement for Porter for offense down low. Very agile coming off the screen on the screen and roll
