Recruit Update

Parker is a senior but I heard rumblings he redshirted last year so I gave him an extra year. I'd heard nothing official beyond that. I think he'd be one of the d-men to get a decent amount of ice time next year.

I updated my list to include Niedermayer for next year. That would make 21 forwards. Gonna be some movement in the portal this offseason.

Current blueline scoring leaders in the WHL. Mazden Leslie tied for 2nd with 66 points in 59 games. Brayden Crampton in third with 62 points in 60 games. Hopefully these guys actually come in next season instead of going pro.

Sounds like he’s coming here unless he gets a pro offer. Which is kinda what we would expect for basically any recruit ever, right?

The risk is always going to be there when recruiting players aging out of Juniors. Any kid offered a 2 way contract (or ELC) is going to jump at that chance. They're basically guaranteed the AHL at that point. The kids with Junior eligibility left are going to have to think about it, as the AHL isn't an option for them. The NHL returns kids with Junior eligibility back to their Junior teams instead of sending them to the AHL.

There was an article posted here within days of him committing saying the exact same thing as this article. If he's offered a pro contract, he's going that way. The coaches are very aware of that possibility. As well as he's probably a short term player if he does make it to campus. But that's OK given there's 11 seniors leaving this season. A couple "rentals" allows the classes to even out a little more going forward.

The fact we are getting a look from a kid who is a potential one-and-done speaks volumes. That happens at Michigan, not Bowling Green.

I'll be surprised if he's the only one. Stavros leaving, large number of returners, large number of incoming CHL players, something had to give. Point per game on the BCHL this season, he's probably the average, or slightly above average, player BG has gotten commitments from in the past. The fact he's flipped to RIT tells a lot about where BG has been competing for recruits. Could also be a case of RIT being willing to grab his brother from the portal.

1) This is indeed the best recruiting class we've had in a very long time
2) Lots of folks will be talking about us (any press is good press) including other programs and potential recruits

Not sure of the methodologies used on Neutral Zone. Program desperately needed puck moving defensemen and this class is ripe with them. Should help immensely on getting the puck out of the D zone efficiently. Steinman seems like a solid goaltending prospect. Putting up a .917 SV% in the Q is no small task. That league is usually very offense heavy.
