Re: Falcons in the NFL
Not the NFL, but Ali Saad was taken 4th overall in the CFL draft last night by the Saskatchewan RoughRiders. Glad to see him get a chance to continue playing.

Re: Falcons in the NFL
One thing I did not know about Ali was that he was from Canada--Windsor. I assumed since he went to Dearborn Fordson HS in Michigan that he lived there. Probably did when attending school because going back and forth over the border is a hassle unlike the old days before 9/11 when you were likely waved through after a basic question or two. The one time I did get questioned years ago was going from Sarnia to Port Huron. Asked what I was doing (working). How long were you in Canada (overnight). What do you have in the car. (Office equipment and papers). Are you carrying a gun (no). Open up the trunk.

Used to go up to Windsor to hit the clubs (not strip clubs) a lot in the late 80's and early 90's...less gang-y than the clubs in Toledo
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Also booze at 19 was an attraction.

We used to go back and forth to "smuggle" booze across the border. Hit up the beer store, hit up the liquor store, and head back home. Of course we'd hit up the casino as well.
Customs was always a breeze except for the time my buddy had helped his dad with some tree trimming nad still had his chainsaw in the trunk. They sent us over for questioning, etc. Guys, we're not going to invade Canada with an electric (yes, plugin) chainsaw...

Browns sign Fannin for 4 years, $6.7M.

Re: Falcons in the NFL
That's a bummer. HE was waived/injured, but it was an undisclosed injury. Unfortunate reality for these UDFA types, can't make the club from the tub. Guys like that can't afford even the most minimal of injuries.
IF they want to keep him on payroll (assuming he clears waivers), he could revert back to their IR for the year. More likely they'll pay out whatever they need to for the injury settlement and he can get healthy and try to stay in shape and find another team.
Fannin barely played last week in the preseason. He's getting a ton of run in practice with the 1s & 2s. He's going to have a legit role in their offense this season (no shocker to any of us). I don't expect to see much stats or snaps for him in preseason going forward, but I'm excited for what he can do in that offense.
