No Eigner recruits at all.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 1:28 pm This is now making the rounds on social media. We can debate whether it's actually true or not until the cows come home but two things:
1) This is indeed the best recruiting class we've had in a very long time
2) Lots of folks will be talking about us (any press is good press) including other programs and potential recruits
Mazden Leslie is currently listed as arriving in the fall. Luke Pfoh is not listed. Rogovsky and Levis are also not listed. By my count that makes a roster of 26 players. 15 forwards, 9 defensemen, 2 goaltenders.

In the QMJHL, Jacob Steinman was named a first team all-star while Ty Higgins was named to the second team.

In the WHL, Mazden Leslie was named a first team all-star for the Western Conference.

The only other CCHA CHL all-star recruit is Bemidji's Max Hildebrand (G - WHL E).

Briggs weighs in on the recruiting class. CAUTION!!! There are triggering words and phrases in this article that may cause you to go on idiotic rants in a public forum. You've been warned.

Re: Recruit Update
The blue bloods have been whining all over social media about Neutral Zone's recruiting class rankings. If you can get past the paywall, here's a more nuanced take on the matter. What I think is most important is that the #1 beat writer in college hockey is paying attention to us. Whether or not we have the #1 class is secondary at this point...there's a lot of buzz about BG and Willy right now.

Re: Recruit Update
It seems as though BG's recruiting has declined recently, with guys coming from the NAHL instead of the USHL, so it's great that BG is at the leading edge of CHL recruiting. There might be just one shot at the edge, though. Other schools will wade into the CHL talent pool. They might have been unprepared this time or didn't have a need. If we can win some significant games, the recruits will keep coming. BG is still in a second tier league, though.
I wonder if someone looked into the future of recruiting when he hired Willy.

Re: Recruit Update
Leslie traded from Vancouver to Kelowna. Vancouver receives conditional first and third round picks in return. Fairly safe to assume the "conditional" part is only IF he actually plays for Kelowna next season. If he's drafted and signs an ELC, he'll either play NHL or for Kelowna (not sure he's old enough for AHL).

Steinman takes home the Patrick Roy trophy as the top goaltender in the QMJHL.

No offense to him...but the award should have gone to Moncton's Rudy Guimond

He played 16 games. Steinman played 52, 30 of which were with Moncton. Guimond didn't even play enough games to make the Q's official stat page. Guimond most definitely should not have been considered for the award.Flipper wrote: ↑Fri Jun 06, 2025 7:10 pm No offense to him...but the award should have gone to Moncton's Rudy Guimond

Re: Recruit Update
Not sure what Guimond says about the quality of play in the USHL and the QMJHL….
Here’s a guy who couldn’t stop a beach ball over the last two seasons in the U, yet he goes to the Q and is a superstar???
He had a save % of sub .880 over two years. Maybe he played on bad teams, not sure. Just seems like more a caught fire type of situation than a real prospect turnaround.
I guess we’ll see how he does at Yale.
