I could see that one, given the familiarity/loyalty to Coach Williams.
Rihards Simanovics played for the Amarillo Wranglers. Mahood was his head coach.

Per McMahon, "Bowling Green assistant coach Stavros Paskaris resigned from the program a few weeks ago."
I'm not sure about this, but Stavros might have taken another job at BG in the athletic department. More of a stay at home position, which makes sense with a young family. Assistant Athletic Director - Development, per Linked in
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

Is he taking Elsasser's job when he retires?

If that’s the case, that’s a huge win-win for everyone. Stavros gets to stay in BG which he wanted and Willy gets to further put his stamp on things.

Maybe it's someone from Medicine Hat and they're bringing McKenna with them. Can't even fathom the meltdown college hockey world have from that.

Yes, I looked and didn't see any direct connections to Williams or BGSU. Closest connecting to the area is 1 game played for the Storm in 02-03 season.

Reality is they either had some surprise interest that wasn't expected, potential visa problems (if it's a Canadian), or the person's season or obligations are still ongoing. There's really not immediate need to announce as recruiting is pretty much done for next season and most players are in offseason anyways.

With the Clark and Memorial Cups having been awarded I was thinking we'd see an announcement on the assistant coach assuming he was coming from those ranks but it's been crickets (unless I missed the announcement?). Anybody hear anything or did I actually miss the announcement?

If you've missed it, I've missed it as well. Coach Carr's title has been updated on the coach's page, but only lists Williams, Carr, Schoen, and Powers.

Side note, RIT's schedule was soft released, and BG is not on it.

Matt Nicholson who was an associate head coach with Robert Morris is the new assistant.

Resume:

Adrian assistant 07-09
Robert Morris assistant 09-13
Robert Morris Associate HC 13-15
Amarillo Bulls HC 15-17
Niagara assistant 17-20
Mercyhurst assistant 21-22
Robert Morris Associate HC 23-25

From London, Ontario. Played 4 years at Colgate and then for the Youngstown Steelhounds in the CHL.

Considering Willy was the head coach at Amarillo from 2010-2014, I’d guess that’s where their connection comes from. The other guess would be that Willy was an assistant here with Ron Fogarty, who then went on to hire Nicholson for his first assistant job at Adrian. Anybody know anything about it?
