RMU isn’t a flashy program, but I trust Willy to make a good hire. If he feels good about it, I do too.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Jun 09, 2025 3:40 pm I'm not sensing a lot of excitement from the group here?
I didn’t know who Stavros or Curtis were before they were hired. I think that’s just the nature of hiring college hockey assistant coaches. Lol

Re: Assistant Hockey Coach
I'm sure he's a solid assistant. There's a lot in the world of assistants that we as fans just aren't aware of. The day to day, the recruiting, etc. I see his biggest hurdle being changing from the "RMU Guy" to the "BGSU Guy" when out recruiting. Those SHOULD be two different levels of recruits.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Jun 09, 2025 3:40 pm I'm not sensing a lot of excitement from the group here?
Of the current staff and players like him, let's drop the puck and go.

Re: Assistant Hockey Coach
In addition to the Nicholson hire, BG also announced they have hired Jacob Pritchard as an assistant coach.
He played at St. Lawrence and UMass in college, and is a Macomb, MI native. 30 years old. Split time between the ECHL and AHL as a player.
Spent the last 2 years as a USHL assistant for Sioux City, after spending a year at UMass as a volunteer assistant.

I think shaking up the staff as a whole was needed. Don't know anything about the two new guys so judgment will be reserved for when the games begin.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Mon Jun 09, 2025 3:40 pm I'm not sensing a lot of excitement from the group here?

Re: Assistant Hockey Coach
Interesting move hiring two assistants. Immediate thoughts are Schoen is moving on, but programs are allowed to designate three assistants for recruiting purposes. They (and head coach) are the only ones allowed to travel and directly recruit. It's the reason titles like "Director of Hockey Operations," "Director of Player Development," "General Manager of Hockey," etc have come into existence. Personnel designated to work within the program, but not actively recruit. DHO has been used for resumé building of recent players looking to get into coaching, ala Jimmy Spratt.
