Rumor has it the B1G and the SEC are planning to throw in together to create some sort of Super Liga for college football. They would be open to including some G5 schools.

This may be the nail in the coffin for college football as we know/knew it

Let's put our hat in the ring to be a G5 school. I mean, if you ignore our future winning percentage with that move, we would definitely get a lot of money from the deal, right?

For sure, it will be. Like the AFC and NFC in the NFL. They really are killing the game.

Reports that Ohio has reached out to the Sun Belt about joining the conference.

I'm guessing toledo, buffalo, and maybe miami also reached out. The top mid majors have to consolidate to keep their place just like what happened with the better half of the mountain west leaving for the pac. It sucks but it's reality.

If you don't want to be left behind in the bottom tier you have to find a way to move up. Unfortunately the sun belt expansion with top fcs teams moved them ahead of us. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they find a way to cut the fat to get rid of teams like UL Monroe similar to what the mountain west did

No surprise, but the Sun Belt voted to add Louisiana Tech today. We'll see what happens when the dominoes fall again for realignment. MAC schools may want to make a move, but will the Sun Belt wish to expand that far north when they have chances to return to states in their footprint, like Texas, Tennessee, and Kentucky, that they have lost over the last 10-12 years

I would guess that just about every school in every conference is having these discussions pretty regularly. If DVDM hasn't made calls to a few conferences exploring opportunities, then he isn't doing his job.

I would guess that just about every school in every conference is having these discussions pretty regularly. If DVDM hasn't made calls to a few conferences exploring opportunities, then he isn't doing his job.

Definitely feels uneasy around the MAC ever since NIU departed. The conference probably winds up disbanding at some point in the coming years with schools jettisoning to the American, CUSA, SB, or dropping to FCS.

Curious to see what Steinbrecher has to say next week about NIU's final season and if he's asked about the Ohio rumors.
