Personally, I am most excited about the Boise game. This could be one of the highest scoring games of the year and I just hope we get the ball last...

I voted for Toledo because it is a home game and I know I will be there. No chance of going to Boise and Madison is doubtful as well. And if the Miami game ends up on a weeknight for ESPN as I suspect, I doubt I could make a week night trip to Oxford. :(

Ha -- Although it was fun to personally witness the lambasting last year in a beautiful stadium in my second favorite city, the thought of another second half of watching our 8th string BGHS team run off tackle 20 plays in a row doesn't exactly get my blood pumping =) Now that's a sentence!

My vote is for Wisconsin. With Boise State coming a close 2nd.

Wisconsin is, depending on how you look at it, our biggest game of the year. Maybe not the most important, but our biggest. Biggest crowd we'll play in front of all season, highest ranked opponent (most likely), largest national recognition if we come out with W. A win in Madison can propel us into the national rankings earlier in the season than in years past. If Omar does well it will also get the word out early about him as well.

As far as being excited, I get pumped up when we play these so called college football "powerhouses", like Oklahoma, OSU, Wisconsin, etc.

For 2 reasons,

1) In these games BG has nothing to lose. If we were to win, BG would be all over the media, and we would have a lot of national recognition very early in the season. If we lose no big whoop. Yet, if OU or OSU were to lose to a team such as us (not putting BG down), it would probably all but end any shot they may have of a national title.

2) Every time we play these big schools, we see their gameday atmosphere and the fans who support them. These schools are as big as it gets when it comes to college football. As a so-called mid-major school with aspirations of national recognition, we are able to learn just what it takes to make a great gameday experience. We are able to take these experiences back to BG with a greater understanding of just what it will take to become program that we aspire to be.

With that being said, both Wisconsin and Boise State will be exciting games, but at the same time neither game will have anything to do with us winning the east.

i agree with everything you said web except for one. I'd bet that boise will be ranked higher than wisconsin in the preseason poll. Wisconsin and us will probably both be 20-30 and boise may very well be top 15 with all the firepower they have coming back. If they can beat Georgia, they will probably be borderline top 10. Like you said, even though Boise may be the better team, a win over Wisconsin will garner more national attention because of the "name factor".

I've got to go with Wisconsin, but only because there is a remote chance of me going. Unless we can find cheap flights to Boise, in which case if you find some, let me know!

Just for fun, I spent a little time pricing flights to Boise. Well, I thought it was fun, my wife thought I wanted a trip to divorce court. Anyway, turns out I could swing a trip to Boise for about the same as our trip to Detroit for the MCB in 2003. Not cheap, but not obscenely expensive, either.

Sigh ... still, it's looking like one trip to BG (and a bowl game, of course) will be the only games this year.

Won't your new job require you to live IN BG!? And if that's the case you better make it to more than one home game!

It's the Miami game, hands down. We can lose to Wisconsin, Boise, Temple, and Toledo and still be playing for the MAC title (remember, that thing we haven't won since our resurgence) if we win the rest, including Miami.

Ya know, I said Toledo, thinking that it's our Big Rivalry at home. But yet, I completely forgot about our "renewed" rivalry with Miami, and with that being in Oxford, that could very well be our biggest conference game of the year. We could very well loose every ooc game, but yet still win the MAC, which is why, in conference Miami will be the team to beat.
As for ooc games, I'm going to have to go with Wisconsin. This is going to unfortunately be a little longer than the conference dealy thingy...but yea here we go!! Like what jacobs and web both said, Wisconsin is definately going to be a tough team to beat, and whether we win or lose that game, just as long as it isn't a blow-out, we will get some sort of national attention much like the Oklahoma Game this past year. Seeing as how it's the first game on the schedule (if it's not, my bad) it will definately be the game to watch seeing how Omar finished out the season in the GMAC bowl. A win could very well mean a start to an amazing season for the Falcons, but yet, unfortunately, you can never rule out a fluke.
With the Boise State Game, It's on the Smurf Turf, against a team who apparently has the longest winning streak at home. Again as what jacobs said, Boise will most likely be higher ranked than Wisconsin, and if we win, that will definately push us up into the top 20, if not top 10(with a win in the games beforehand that is). Anywho...there's my "essay" on that...
BTW, GO FALCONS!!

I'll be at the Wisconsin game.

But I voted for Boise State.

That game makes me even more nervous.
