Running backs coach Brian White is already coaching at Marshall this morning. Ya, this wasn’t something that happened out of nowhere.

Love Coach Clawson, but he resigned at Wake because he didn't like the way things were going with NIL there. I cannot imagine anyone with that mindset willingly signing up to be the head coach HERE in this era.

FootballScoop reporting that Nick Monroe and Kentucky associate head coach Vince Marrow have interviewed.

Marrow coached tight ends at Toledo in 2008 and used to be the head coach at Springfield HS in Holland. Obviously Monroe has a history with BG under Clawson and Dino.

Monroe recruited Florida really well and was a pretty funny read on social media...no idea if that makes him qualified to be a HC.

Doesn't sound like they're using a "search firm" on this one

The FootballScoop areticle mentions "a search managed by Glenn Sugiyama and Dan Guerrero of DHR International."

I'd have to be talked into both of them. The model of hiring a FCS coach is the way to IMO

Wich suggests this was in the works for longer than it initially appeared

Seems that way. I recall reading either on here or somewhere else that an extension with the university would have contained some sort of clause regarding Scot leaving for the NFL. Going to assume he was given a couple weeks to mull over the offer with the Eagles so he could consult with family and discuss with DVDM what his options were. His interview with Briggs was really well done, and I'm glad he chose to move on given his passion for being the head coach here seemed to have been sapped with all the portal and NIL stuff.

Scoop reporting that Mike Jacobs has signed an extension at Mercer. So he’s out.

I just can't imagine that we would make such a smart hire with Simon, and ignore the blueprint for the football coach.

Different circumstances, to be fair. We weren’t hiring a basketball coach 3 months after the season ended and the cycle was seemingly finished.

Cycle is meaningless. We are still a promotion

Debatable whether moving from FCS to the MAC is a promotion on name alone. The money has to be there to treat it as such, and the jury is still out as to if BGSU will satisfy that threshold.

A lot of online discussion about Jalen Hurts underperforming this year...
