Strong first offensive drive that stalls in the red zone.

Kleather hits a 42 yard field goal, and the Falcons lead 3-0.

We're very obviously not going to push things with Anderson through the air. Unfortunately, that means a lot of running in situations where you'd like to see a throw, or running into stacked boxes. Going to need to figure out a way to keep the defense honest here or I think we'll struggle to move the ball today. I love Anderson's dynamic athleticism (scrambling for 24 yards on 3rd and 15 there, Pyne doesn't do that), so even just slants and screens would give this offense a huge boost, so he's gotta make those plays when they come up.

First defensive drive was solid. This QB-switching from CMU might be annoying today.

2nd offensive drive was a dud. It's more and more apparent that we just have very little trust in 3 back there throwing the ball. It really limits what we can do. I'm not sure how you fix that without Pyne available.

END OF ONE:

BG leads 3-0, with the ball on a 3rd and 2 after the break.

We will lose this game if we don't even try to throw. We're playing fine right now, but they punted from the BG 40 making the gamble that we won't be able to get a first down and they will have flipped field position. Eventually a field tilt like that is going to catch up to us - have to be more aggressive and play the game on our terms.

Anderson threw a pick that CMU returned to the BG 1 yard line, and they then immediately turned into a touchdown.

It's clear Anderson can't throw the short stuff. They're playing man on the outside - maybe take a shot so they can't just play with 8 guys in the box?

7-3 Chips.

HE….CAN’T….THROW…..I know it, you know it, and CMU sure as hell knows it. This is just brutal football to watch. BG’s inability to pass the ball is glaring again. It’s pitiful.

CMU scores. It's 14-3 them.

Very disappointing but familiar effort. This is a spot where Loeffler would have a letdown, and apparently we will in this next era, too.

Only so much that can be done when our staff is coaching like we're going to punt as soon as we get the ball back. I understand 3 is a backup QB in the MAC, so expectations of him have to be limited, but you have to take chances or else why even bother playing the game?

BG needlessly fakes a punt from their own 25, doesn't get it, and CMU has the ball and is threatening again.

My biggest gripe with this staff is that they have no idea when to be aggressive. Pulling that garbage at stupid times costs you games.

CMU is going man coverage and there's a refusal to even try and take a deep shot. Don't understand it.

Becomes a field goal for CMU. Better than giving up a touchdown, but that's just a 3 point gift for CMU. Outside of the explosive pass play on the last drive, they've had a tough time doing much on offense, but we gift wrapped them points there. Poor decision.

Maybe being down 14 will force them to take what's there on the outside instead of running into stacked boxes all afternoon.

Just ran into a 9-man box on 1st down for 2 yards.

I simply don't understand, we're not even trying to win.

It’s because BG can’t pass. It’s beyond obvious.
GO BG!!!
