Re: BGSU Football is back...
When Eddie George’s teams start consistently winning on the field, any comparisons to Mike Jinks will go away.

Re: BGSU Football is back...
Mike Jacobs is rolling in Mercer. I am still pretty confident George will build a winner here but he was my #1 candidate. He will get a job this year maybe a power 4.
I'm extremely confident George will build a winner here. I am not confident he doesn't get bored/frustrated with living in small town Ohio, before he does and decides to leave.
Brian Wright is doing well in N Arizona. He'd be my second choice if the position opened.

Dino wasn't here long enough to impact recruiting in any meaningful way...in either direction
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Dino won a bowl game and a mac championship. Have to go back more than 30 years to find a coach here who also did it. Sure he stepped into a good situation but he also won the games he was supposed to win. Was here 22 months and was still being blamed for things 5-7 years later.

I don't think people actually believe Dino is why we can't run the ball right now or anything like that. The current situation on the field is mostly from Loeffler leaving in March and the natural roster turnover that was occurring anyway after his era peaked, and we'll see how Eddie can build things back up with his first full offseason and real portal cycle this winter.
Babers unquestionably left the program in rough shape, though. He also left at a peak, but he didn't do much recruiting while he was here (247 has changed things since that era so it's harder to tell now, but I believe his recruiting classes were towards the bottom of the MAC and nationally) and he likely would not have sustained success past the 2 years he was here because of it. Look at how his time at Syracuse went. The program Jinks actually inherited was not in a healthy spot roster-wise, despite coming off 2 MAC titles in 3 years - but instead of building it back up, he nosedived the whole thing because he was a bad coach. If Babers had recruited at all, or if we had hired a competent coach after 2015, things maybe go a bit differently for the past decade. But I don't think Babers/Jinks have much to do with the current product on the field.
Eddie's gotta get working on building the roster back up and filling out a coaching staff that is ready to coach at this level, but I do give him a bit of a pass for having to kind of stick things together with duct tape and twigs based on when he was hired. I think we will know a whole lot more about how his tenure will go by October of 2026, when we start playing MAC games after he has had a chance to build those things. But right now, I actually think we'd be pretty pathetic even if Loeffler was still here, just because of the fifty something players that left after last season.

We were picked to win the East Jinks first year. The roster wasn’t nearly as bad as the revisionists say.

Not shocking the media would pick the 3x defending East Champ to go win it again, especially in that era of th MAC East. Ohio hadn’t won the MAC in 48 years at that point, and everyone else just sucked.
(I’m mostly only saying this to stick it to 33)

We’re good at 15 yard penalties.
