On Monday, November 24, our Falcons (3-2) will take on Bucknell in their first game of the Fort Myers Tip-off. This game will begin at 12:00pm EST.
On Wednesday, November 26, we'll then play against VMI, with that game coming at 11:00am.
Both are available to stream through paying a $24.99 subscription fee to "PassThaBallLive", so I can't imagine these games will be watched legally by more than a handful of people. I honestly think it seems like a scammy website that will probably steal your credit card info, so it's kinda sad we're even associating with this event.
But regardless, it's an opportunity to fight and win, so I hope we take advantage of it.
Go Falcons!

I'm in favor of playing these tournaments as long as often as we can. I wish it were back to back games though because I think it's always a good idea to get tested in back to back gamedays prior to the MAC tournament.mbenecke wrote: ↑Thu Nov 20, 2025 1:56 pm On Monday, November 24, our Falcons (3-2) will take on Bucknell in their first game of the Fort Myers Tip-off. But yeah, no way in hell I'm paying $25 to watch these 2 games during daytime hours on workdays.
Basketball has gotten super money grubby, although I suppose with these sorts of tournaments they know there won't be much, if any, in person interest so they have to do something to get the money to continue holding events like this? I dunno, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. We're into the part of the year where we're spending every weekend in a basketball gym and we're paying $5 ea every weekend to watch a couple of 4th grade basketball games, that's just league play. Soon we'll be in tournament play with prices ranging from $5-15ea to watch a handful of games.

I'm sure there will be some "argh matey" streams floating out there that will be just as dangerous.mbenecke wrote: ↑Thu Nov 20, 2025 1:56 pm On Monday, November 24, our Falcons (3-2) will take on Bucknell in their first game of the Fort Myers Tip-off. This game will begin at 12:00pm EST.

I hope your kid has a killer NIL package they're pushing the money to. This is absolutely insane to me.hammb wrote: ↑Thu Nov 20, 2025 2:40 pm We're into the part of the year where we're spending every weekend in a basketball gym and we're paying $5 ea every weekend to watch a couple of 4th grade basketball games, that's just league play. My kid has zero future in the sports he loves. We're in a super competitive school district that seemingly plays for state titles in one sport or another every year; I'll be pretty surprised if he plays at the HS level, but rest assured if the kid isn't playing travel at a young age they have zero shot to play HS (in our district at least).
While admitting our area has a better than most rec sports option, for the most part rec sports are garbage if the kids actually want to play/compete. So if you have a kid who really loves to play you either pay out the rear for "travel" teams or they're miserable in rec leagues with 1 practice a week and a handful of games against other kids whose parents are forcing them to "play a sport" to get off of Fortnite.
I've very much become "Old man yells at cloud" guy, but when I was a kid our rec teams played a lot of baseball. Travel was an option, but only for the truly best players in the region. It's flipped to where anybody who wants to really play has to play travel, and the rec leagues are only for the bottom of the barrel. The paid admission to watch games is annoying, but the price of playing basketball is far less than the price of playing soccer. Don't mean to hijack your thread, but the price breakdown to play youth sports at the travel level will make you cry if your kids are headed in that direction!

After shooting 3-19 from 3PT in the W&M loss, they are 8-13 from deep just 15 minutes into the game against Bucknell. Ruffin is starting and has 4 3PM, himself. Currently up 28-17.
They also have 10 assists on 10 FGM. Hoping the W&M game was an anomaly, wake-up call or both, because it seems like it's a different team on the court so far.

35-24 at the break. Ruffin with 12 plus five assists. Noticed Wol was pulled early after turning the ball over a few times.

BG battling some cold shooting and second half foul troubles. Bucknell has crawled back into it and it's now a 56-50 BG lead with 4:40 to go.

Yeah, listening only, not paying to watch, but been a bit disappointing they have never been able to pull away.
Butt pucker time with Ruffin in foul trouble after how good he was.

Thank god Towns can hit free throws, otherwise that would have been a pretty massive meltdown. BG escapes with the victory, 71-66, after a whole bunch of turnovers and a whole bunch of fouls let Bucknell back in it. VMI on Wednesday morning.

Also FWIW, Bucknell is a very bad team, but Amon Dorries might be one of the best players we face all year. I don't know how he's at Bucknell given the fact that he has played top tier basketball in Germany, but he basically carries that team in every way. A likely NBA prospect.

We shot better on threes then twos and didn't shoot great on free throws. I'll take a win though and hope it provides a confidence boost
