With $10 zillion dollars I would ...
1. Buy my own bowl game and invite Utah to play the Falcons this year
2. Hire the same hairstylist as Omar
3. Pay off the NCAA to let the seniors on the 2001-02 BG basketball team have one more year of eligibility so they could run through the MAC
4. Buy the Toledo Blade and fire John Harris.
5. Hire John Harris as a Myles pizza delivery guy and have him drive down to Cincinnati three times a week to deliver a large pie with everything on it. The other four days he could deliver Pollyeyes' breadsticks.
6. Have every BG game televised and aired in Columbus and Ann Arbor while Ohio State and Michgan games are going on
7. Bring back all the eliminated men's sports at BG and sanction rugby.
8. Have Marshall lose to Troy every year
9. Let Toledo be overrated every year
10. Be the personal masseuse of Anna Kournikova ... ok, maybe that has nothing to do with BG but this is my list.

I might have one other post under a different name about a year ago but I don't even remember what that name was -- Im sure it incorporated Pat Fleming's name because Im a big fan of Canadian punters.
I was down at a Cincinnati bar watching the Oklahoma game with two other BG alumn. We got into a good conversation about Urban and how Utah-BG would be a great matchup since their offenses are so similar. It's irrelavant jargon, but I imagine every BG fan in the country would love to get a shot at playing Utah and beating Urban Liar. It's like taking a girl back who broke up with you and then breaking up with her. And it would be one great of a football game. Of course a MAC championship would do!

Watching the Utah game last Thursday I kept thinking....damn, that looked like one of our plays over and over! They tend to line up with two and three WRs more often than we do, but the similarties are still striking.Buddy Urban Larranaga wrote:I was down at a Cincinnati bar watching the Oklahoma game with two other BG alumn. I don't think Urban is going to be at Utah long enough for a rematch though. With ND's loss to BYU this weekend and Utah appearing to be unstopable for their schedule, the reunion might have to take place in South Bend.
I think I heard that after this season many of the Bowl contracts are to be re-negotiated, meaning their could be some re-shuffling of conference tie-ins. If this is right, then I would assume everyone would come to their senses and the MAC will have 4 bowls like it should, considering the Mt. West, WAC and C-USA have 3 or 4 and aren't nearly as strong top to bottom. But oh yeah....maybe this will lead to a MAC-Mt. West bowl matchup....in which case BG and Utah would be some of the favorites. Ask me though, I'm not missing Meyer. His teams could never finish a season, at least Brandon got them a Division title and a bowl game, something the "Great" Urban Meyer couldn't do. They talk about this guy like he is the next Steve Spurrier or something....Brandon should be a more sought after mid-level young coach if you ask me.

I just hope the MAC picks it up a level after this week. We certainly laid an egg as a conference this past weekend. It would have been great if we could have picked up a bowl or two after how great five of our teams looked last year. And Brandon being young? How young is he anyway? I always thought he was around 50 or so, but who knows. I really, really hope we can hold onto him....something tells me he will stick around for a while, but then again I thought Urban would stay for at least one more year when he skipped town.NY-BG-FAN wrote:I think I heard that after this season many of the Bowl contracts are to be re-negotiated, meaning their could be some re-shuffling of conference tie-ins. Recently, Notre Dame has been evaluating whether or not to schedule two or three teams each season that won't insist on a return game. .NY-BG-FAN wrote:FalconKing.....
You may be right about that, not like he wouldn't ditch Utah for ND like he ditched us, no matter what he says....but even if he is coach at ND someday and Brandon is still here, they will never agree to play us, not in a million years.
That opens up the door a crack for MAC schools to play in South Bend. Not sure we'd be at the top of the list... maybe that would be Miami... but who knows?
They need to work this out before they hire Urban
He may be better than Steve Spurrier. Like him or not, Urban Meyer is one of the best coaches in all of college football. I'd take Urban Meyer over Gregg Brandon any day of the week, especially Saturdays. I think we've got a good coaching staff, but I'd have to be delirious to believe we're better off without Urban.NY-BG-FAN wrote: They talk about this guy like he is the next Steve Spurrier or something....Brandon should be a more sought after mid-level young coach if you ask me.

Who is this Urban character
Urban Meyer the coach is good. But how good is he really? We've never seen him coach his own recruits. Urban Meyer was created by the media. Until ESPN decides they don't like him, he will be fine.
Urban Meyer the person - grouchy, grumpy, not too friendly.
Urban Meyer is history by his choice.
I think we've got a fine coach in Gregg Brandon and I'm proud of him and our team.
