Agree 100%. It is getting embarrassing that we are trying to compete in FBS football. There will be a set of MAC presidents and ADs will have the courage to
Give up this useless pursuit and move their programs down to a lower level. I fear we do not have that kind of leadership and it makes me sad, and makes me wonder what kind of corrupt s**t this will cause us to enter into.

Again, I am sympathetic to BG football alumni who may follow this site that feel differently, but a good portion of BG’s proud football history was at the “small school” level. If we are going to continue to have football program, I would rather have it be a program that would have the chance to compete for something.

That no longer exists where we are now. So we really need to ask ourselves, “what is this for now?” Would something like pudge the cat not exist if we were at a lower level? Would we really be on TV less if we were good at a lower level? Would moving down really take away from the accomplishments the program has had?

I love BG sports, but again, our athletics department unwillingness to face reality is really starting to feel embarrassing to this alum. Football is for the big money whales…let’s try something different.

I'm sure we will become a "feeder program" for an Ohio State as mentioned in the comments on reddit. The money will be too good to pass up if we become some official football partner.

It's probably figuring out the legality with the money, since they are both "public" universities. If they could make athletics "private," it would've been done a couple years ago.

I proposed this idea long ago. Basically make us a minor league team to OSU/Notre Dame/Michigan where we get access to their NIL money to develop players for them to use down the road, if they pan out.

Ohio St. leftovers would have better options than Bowling Green. While it sounds good for BGSU, Ohio State would never need BGSU or any other MAC school for that.

I heard Mr. Steele earlier today talking about the teams losing the most players through the portal. He mentioned BG as one of the nation's hardest hit teams (the hardest hit of the entire G5 right now) and how the BG roster has been completely gutted. He talked about how BG's administration probably didn't expect to see these extreme kind of departure numbers right now fresh on the heels of the Eddie George hire. I agree. He also said Eddie George must hit a grand slam in the portal or BG will find itself right back at the bottom of the MAC again. Yep..... but I guess the silver lining for BG though is - we finally found something BG is really good at on both the MAC and national level. That is - not being able to retain players! Yippee, we're #1!!!

You don’t get to say “we” about BG when you’re an Ohio fan.

Seriously, lol. Almost all of the starters who are transferring have received offers from P4 programs. It's the reality at this level when you don't have an NIL program.

There's a decent chance next season is another rough one. It is what it is. The resources simply aren't there to compete in the current environment.

Cleaver announced today that he is returning to BG for next season.

I have to assume seeing Eddie drain a shot from center ice at the hockey game last night sealed the deal.
