With Wol, the capabilities are there, but I believe that he loses focus.
I'm wondering if Simon isn't tough enough on these guys sometimes.

I guess we see that quite a bit differently.BGorDeath wrote: ↑Wed Jan 28, 2026 10:48 amWol's ball handling skills are very suspect, and that's being nice. Whenever he drives to the hoop or just dribbles the ball, it is a new adventure in tension.
No, he's not setting up shop at the arc and breaking guys down off the dribble with a single quick move. He's 6'9.
He's routinely shown the ability to turn the corner when getting the ball on the move, get downhill and finish near the rim. He's shooting over 60% from 2, over 40% from 3. He's averaging right at 1 TO & 1 A per game. His 1 TOpg ranks him as the lowest of all regulars except Thomas (who's barely played of late) and Ruffin (who is basically just a spot up shooter).
Defensively, he's all over the map, but for a 6'9 scorer I've got zero issues with his handles. If he handled the ball like Cooper Flagg at his size, he'd be at Duke too.

We get destroyed by good three point shooting teams. Obviously something has to change defensively but Wol has to be on the floor. He’s the only good three point shooter we have. My biggest knock on our coaching staff thus far in their tenure is the lack of three point shooters. In today’s game it is a must. You cannot count on the refs calling fouls when you drive to the hoop. Our opponents pack the lane and dare us to shoot and we can’t. We can talk about defense all we want but it’s a proven fact that if you score more points than your opponent you win. Our scoring philosophy is drive the ball and that’s all we have in our bag. When we get hammered and refs swallow their whistles we don’t have any other tricks.
