I don't know about that, but I do know that the 2003 Akron-Wisconsin game was a whole lot closer than the final score.redskins4ever wrote:Didnt Akron get an official letter of apology from the Big 10 after they had all but beaten Wisconsin two years ago? The refs just did everything they could to make sure the badgers won.
Akron scored in the fourth quarter to close Wisconsin's lead to 34-31. The Zips then stopped the Badgers and marched it down the field to the Wisconsin one-yard-line.
Unfortunately, the Zips couldn't punch it in.
Wisconsin took possession -- and tossed a 99-yard touchdown pass on the next play, blowing it back open to a 41-31 game. They got another touchdown near the end, making it look easy at 48-31. But it wasn't that easy.
Whether there was a controversial call or series of calls on that crucial Zip drive, I don't recall.

Without a doubt that was my favorite football game of all time. I remember at halftime when it was 10-10, I went to get something to drink and all their fans were like "it will be 34-10 by the end of the third quarter" Not to mention all the things they said before the game. I never heard a word from them in our mile walk back to our car. My favorite memories from that game were hearing 55,000 gasps and awws when they did not complete that 4th and 10 and of course the Sharon reception. I might have had one of the best seats in the house for that catch.hammb wrote:I'm really thinking of making that trip up there. Since it's Labor Day, it'd be pretty sweet. Purdue, so far, is my all time favorite football game attended live. I'd like a chance to top that
my favorite memory of the purdue atmosphere was the bomb of silence. That ball from harris went up and things went quiet untill charles caught the pass in the endzone, then the sound of air being sucked out of about 60,000 purdue fans after it had been blown around by their mouths all day was priceless.
There were a few fans in particular who i attempted to make eye contact with just for laughs, and they literally had tears in their eyes.. boohoo...
I think at wisky the air will be stale to them by the end of the first, so it will have to be fulfilling in another way for us who travel. hopefully i can make it.

The thing is..............
Though that Wisky will probably be alot louder than Purdue was. But hopefully that won't bother Omar after being at Oklahoma last year.

didn't want to start a new thread for this.
Found some discussion on JJhuddle about the series we have going with Wisky. Interesting stuff:

the ignorance of some college football "fans" still amazes me. To propose that Wisconsin will obviously destroy us is a retarded statement. Suckeye fans' reasoning is that if Wisconsin beat OSU 3 out of 4 years, then no way can little BG compete at all. They fail to realize that they had to scratch and claw and get some favorable breaks to beat us at HOME two years ago. And that was after we won AT PURDUE. Everybody seems to think that we are a fluky, gimmicky team and it's pathetic. I am betting on BG to win in Wisconsin this year. I'll probably get 1-2 touchdowns from the oddsmakers and I think it's a lock we'll at least be close. the arrogance of big ten fans is astounding sometimes....

whether we win or lose, it's definately going to be a close game, but until the final minutes wind down on the scoreboard in madison this year, we will actually never know. It's the first game of the season, so if we win, wisky fans will say it's because it's the first game, and they aren't up to speed yet. If we lose, they'll say it's a shutout, just because we're a MAC team. As it's been said before, Wisky has nothing to gain, but they have everything to lose. BG on the other hand, has nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

I think BG's at the point where they have plenty to lose. While losing to Wisky would have no bearing on the MAC crown we're still chasing, even going unbeaten the rest of the way would leave a lot of question marks without at least a split of the Wisky/Boise pair. I'd love a MAC title regardless, but saying that there is NOTHING to lose is 10 years old. "Less to lose", maybe, but not "nothing" if we want to make our mark nationally.Strouse wrote:BG on the other hand, has nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

I guess you're right, I actually never thought about it in the long run like that. Thanks for kind of clearing that up and setting me straight! :duh:TG1996 wrote:I think BG's at the point where they have plenty to lose.
