I've got to think the fact that he was looking into the Ohio State job might have been a factor in the delay.

But, whatever.

He sounds happy here, and I couldn't be happer about that. He's doing a great job.

During the MAC tournament on a tv station in Cleveland it said that he turned down the osu job.

I'd love to know more about how far Krebs got in that search process.

I am curious as well, Schad. Above that, however, I'm very pleased he's "on board" for a spell.

This also tells me there's quite a bit in store for the Falcon athletic programs.

I wouldn't! He's a Falcon now and will be for the next 5 years and that is something I can be happy about! He's done a terrific job with everything but I'm sure everyone already knows that.

I agree. I always said if he wanted the OSU job, I hoped he got it. Since he didn't (want it or get it, whichever), I'm glad he's here. He's a good one. Beyond the Meyer/Brandon choice, I think Curt Miller and Scott Paluch (sorry, not football :-)) were really good choices.

This might be a case of wanting to be "the guy after the guy". Have Gene Smith follow Geiger, get things settled and maybe re-emerge in a few years after Smith is ready to call it quits.

This is a HUGE accomplishment for the MAC. It proves we can keep quality AD that could have just as easily gotten a job at a Big 11 school. I think these next 5 years are going to just get better and better for the athletic department, and I can see quite a few more MAC championships in all sports, and even a CCHA title or two.

I would have to think that Krebs isn't that kind of person, having spent some time with him. He is a very stand-up man, in my opinion. He loves OSU from what I could tell, but I think he and his family are very happy here. I'm sure they're living well off of his salary as well, so money probably wasn't a huge issue. But, if you're right, maybe I could get the BGSU AD job? lol

I wonder how many coaches he'll have to hire over the next five years.

I hate to sound pessimistic here, but do we really think he is going to be here for five more years? What did Urban sign right before we saw him out in Utah? That being said, I actually would be suprised if he left this year, but I think five more years is a bit opptimistic if we continue the success we have been enjoying.

One area, and there are others, where I feel this extension is very beneficial is in the development of new facilities. It should insure the successful completion of the Sebo Center and also help in the development of a new convocation center.

If this happens, along with the other accomplishments he has helped bring about, we can thank AD Krebs immensely for the upgrading of BG's athletic programs.

As soon as you saw my name attached to this list you probably thought, "Oh crap here he goes again about Krebs..." Not today, while I have a beef with him on something completely different, I'm glad to see him stay, he may not be a great communicator, but he's a damn good A.D. for this school.
