Just wondering who some of the names tossed around to fill your vacancy over at T.J. University. . .
Any mention of a former UVA assistant who currently is a head coach in the state?

The big story posted on ESPN a few weeks ago had the UVA alums wanting Tubby Smith or Rick Barnes to sell tickets for their brand new $130M, 15,000 seat arena next year. Both have declined interest.
The other name that pops up is Tommy Amaker who is running out of chances in Ann Arbor and happens to be a native Virginian.

No doubt Tubby declined interest. I don't remember anything about UVA interest in Tubby at all, and the cats get two pages in the sports section on a slow day. He and the writers must have just laughed at that and ignored it.OptionQB wrote:The big story posted on ESPN a few weeks ago had the UVA alums wanting Tubby Smith or Rick Barnes to sell tickets for their brand new $130M, 15,000 seat arena next year. In all honesty, rumors are floating all over the place like wild fire down here. But there's no secret right now frontrunner on the "wishlist" is Tubby Smith from pretty much all accounts. Is there a shot at that happening? Tubby's probably the only one that knows for sure right now. Our AD said the search will be 4-6 weeks, but if Smith turns down the offer once Kentuck is done in the NCAA Tournament, it's pretty open after that from everything being reported right now.
Virginia is about halfway finished with building an amazing new arena that won't be open until another year and a half. But with the new arena, playing in the ACC, and the money the new coach will have thrown at him, it is a very, very attractive offer. With that being said, winning the ACC is an absolute chore. The ACC is a hoop-lovers dream and despite being a BG fan for life, I've loved every minute of the basketball down here.
So, we shall see who the new 'Hoo will be in the near future.

GO BG!!!
Beilen won't be leaving West Virginia for a number of reasons, 1, his son, Patrick is going into his senior year (he starts for WVU, if you don't follow Big East hoops) and he has already moved twice in his career, (Canisus, Richmond, W. Va.) Not like Virginia is in better shape than WVU right now, and with the job Beilen has done there WVU would certainly match any offer UVA would hypothetically put on the table. Finally, West Virginia starts 4 Juniors who will return next season --- to a team that made it to the elite 8 if not farther this year. As I said earlier, Steve Lavin and Fran Fraschilla should be the front runners for that job, unless of course they can pry Tubby from Kentucky. But honestly, chance of that happeing is slim to none.

Yup. He produced pretty quickly at his current school and has a fun, uptempo offense and trapping defense that I miss, actually. Just thought he might be somewhere on the radar screen. . .ZiggyZoomba wrote:You talking about Jimmy L??Dayons_Den wrote:Just wondering who some of the names tossed around to fill your vacancy over at T.J.
