No kidding about wanting it to be over. I am so NOT looking forward to the playing auditions... they always make me more nervous than they should. :( Interviews, meetings, marching, drill... I can deal with that stuff.

They had to conduct that last year as well. I do not know about this year though but it'll probably be the same!

Just remember, the SSB is in 4.

I can assure you, someone will conduct it in four. It happens every year. OK, bye. Jeff

Ha.... one of my favorite band quotes is about that very thing regarding the SSB:

Dr Moss: "And what count do you come in on?"
Trumpets: "FOUR!"
Dr Moss: "There is no four! We're in three!!"

i have no idea, and that sounded funny.

Dave Shaffer(to Miami Band): Stop. Stop. That was WONDERFUL, the BEST sound I have EVER heard from a marching band. You know, this is THE BEST BAND I have ever seen. You are SO good, and So talented.
Now can you try a TRUE forte piano?
Band(playing):hits the forte piano....

Dave(to band):NO A TRUE FORTE PIANO!

Band(REally exaggerated): forte piano

Some Trumpet holds over.....

Entire band(turning towards offender):HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

HEHE. I love band,

So what happenned at Band camp?

I remember Shaffer from back when he was guest director of our all county band when I was in high school. Liles was still directing the marching band then and Shaffer was on staff but basically making his living arranging and composing. I always liked Shaffer. He's quite the character at times.
I studied with James Olcott for a few years and Greg Phillips' (horn prof) wife was my assistant director in H.S.
With all the connections in Oxford, it's strange that I ended up in BG. They were my last two choices and you almost could have flipped a coin. I still remember Olcott acting a little surprised when I told him I had picked BG.

Yes he is. He is a good guy. Makes us ALL laugh. WE ALL know Dave. We have our Daveisms. He STILL arranges. Macy's Parade buys their music off of Miami, because of our band. They extended an open invitation for our band to comeback to New York.
