Odie...don't be a lesbian porn hater....anyway, it's different than the Schiavo case. The Schiavo case was an unfortuante situation that engenderd strong feelings on both sides of the issue. The mere mention of it was a virtual guarentee to start a fight.

Lesbian porn is like McDonald's...I'm not sure why that it is, maybe it has to do with the burgers and shakes, but almost no one fights over McDonald's. I guess if you were one of those PETA types you might. If that's the case you might as well just get it over with and move to France.

Yes, that's right, France. Oui oui, Odie....

Flipper i hope you're kidding. I think that a woman's life and how she was starved to death is a more important subject than lezbian porn.

no pun intended but let it DIE! Okay so that pun was definitely intentional. You're gonna need to grow a much thicker skin before you leave the nest young one.

Odie...stand on a ladder an reread my post.

Schad, I agree with you about the arena size. I would cap it at 7500-8000. 10-12,000 is way too much.

I'd put in 5,000 *good* seats.

Then I'd build aluminum movable walls around those 5,000 seats, with the aluminum designed to reflect every peep into a monstorous roar. I'm not talking about metal curtains like you see at the mall. I'm talking about complete walls.

I'd then be satisfied to put another 5,000-7,000 seats behind the aluminum walls.

My guess: BGSU wouldn't be moving those aluminum walls very often.

I think this and Finallyin04's size makes sense. 5k-7500 permanent seats. This woulds till allow for 10k capacity for concerts and commencements with seating on the floor.

As to my post about including an Ahtletics Hall of Fame - Archives in the new arena. . .

. . someone said that was going to be part of the SEBO. It is my understanding the SEBO will have a "Heritage Room" similar to the Alumni Lounge at the ice arena. I think it is intended to lure recruits and serve as a meeting area for official events- not as a thing that is open before games for people to take their familes to see the Las Vegas Bowl trophy. . .

I've been in Anderson... I've been in Millett... I've been in several other larger arenas and it all comes down to the setup when it comes to intimidation and acoustics...

1) BG will not build a facility that is smaller then 8,000 seats, this will be a multi-purpose facility for concerts, graduations, speakers, etc. No one in the administration enjoys graduation in which they can't accomodate parents and friends... This is not to say this cannot be done well see Nationwide Arena.

2) Cameroon Indoor Arena is 8800 seats or so, so you can keep the intimidation in larger arenas. Setup is the key... Give the students 1/2 of the bottom bowl with the band... make the seatin steep so the fans feel on top of the of the players...and the players feel like they are surrounded... bring press row down to accomodate media... I like that idea...

3) Curtain off a section if you can't fill it... drop a Falcon wall of Orange cloth over a section if you cant fill it to force people to sit closer to gether.

4) Steep seating also adds to acoustics... much much louder!

5) Limit the number of chair backs... or for that matter no cloth seats.. it deadens sound.

6) Take cues from other new arenas... EMU, Northern Illinois, Gonzaga.

7) Keep 75% of the seats on the long ends of the court... nor worse seat then behind a basket in my opinion...

8) Tin ceiling... reflects sound!

9) Arenas dont fill when teams dont win... see EMU, Northern, etc.

10) Big games bring big crowds... OU had a couple of 9,000+ fan games in their 13,000 seat arena.
